there is two products over the counter that I know that they sell at Walgreens. Lood for the eyecare section and it should be on the top row in most stores. One is called "stye" and you might have to ask the pharmacist for the name of the other one. You can always call any pharmacist for more advice.

Hot packs may help to "bring it to a head". Do not poke at it as that can make a way for infection to get in. If it is a sty the hot compresses should help. Wash your hands frequently and especially after touching the area. Sty's are caused by staph so the less you touch the better. A needle around your eye is not a great idea either.LOL

Your doctor knows that these things take time. Be patient! Try the hot compress 3 times a day. Take a washcloth, soak it in water, put it in a bowl in the microwave. Nuke it for 30 seconds or so, until it is really hot.
Then lie down and put the hot, wet washcloth on your eyes. Feels really good! It should be 7 or 8 minutes before it cools off. This is what worked for me.
I think your instinct to keep needles away from your eye is a good one!

go to a dermatologist right away! It can be something serious. Also, it would help if you didn't pick at it anymore. That can leave permanant scarring, along with the added risk of damaging your eye. Your doctor probably told you not to worry because he/she doesn't have it!

Probably you should take your doctor's advice and just wait it out. It ought to take care of itself in just a few days. So why risk making it worse?
