How do I get rid of poison ivy on the ground & on my body?

On the ground dress in long pants tucked into some type of sock, long sleeve shirt tucked into some type of glove. This will help you not get any exposed skin to get infected with it. You need to pull it out from the grown and then use a strong weed killer on the roots. DON"t burn it because the olis still go into the air and can get you. (my husband and friends did this at a winter campfire and they peed on it to put it out. All got poison ivy "there"! So have your big gren yard bags ready. Take your clothes off very carefully turning inside out as you take off. As fr as treating it there really isn't anything you can do except to use good old calamine patted on. As long as the oli is on the skin it can spread so don't use lotions on it as that can spread the oil. Severe cases may require steroids.

Round up works well at killing it. Remember that the roots and vines will contain the oils for a while until they dry out completely.
I don't suggest pulling up vines and roots. They contain lots of poison. Cover your entire body. Clean your skin with Orange hand cleaner or similar cleaner that mechanics use to remove grease and oil. This works great!

cover yourself completely with a plastic outfit. A throw away raincoat, vinyl gloves, and a shower cap would be fine. Pull the ivy out of the soil along with the roots. Put them in a plastic bag, tie it up for the garbage man.

Take a double shower with plenty of soap, shampoo, etc.

As far as on the ground, I don't know, but as for the skin there is a product they sell at drug stores called TechNu. i used it last summer and it worked great. cleared it up w/in a couple of days and the itching was gone almost right away.

On you, use calamine lotion and oatmeal baths.

On the ground, use boiling water, vinegar, or even round-up. But keep in mind that those things will kill other plants as well.
