I think it's supposed to say "Why this story?" Historia can be history or a story.

¿Por qué está historia? - Why is history? - or Why is story?
The word "está" means "is."
i.e.:
You: We have history class on our schedule - Tenemos clase de historia en nuestro horario.
He/She: Why is history? (on our schedule) - ¿Por qué está historia? (en nuestro horario)
or maybe you want to ask: Why is history? - ¿Por qué es historia? Which you may use when asking someone who has already moved on... "is" also means "es."
i.e.:
You: -I still love you - Aún te amo
She/He: -That is history! ¡Eso es historia!
You: Why is history? - ¿Por qué es historia?
She/He: Because I don't love you anymore, that is history... - Porque (yo) ya no te amo, eso es historia...
¿Por qué esta historia? - Why this history? or Why this story?
The word "esta" means "this"
i.e.:
You: We are going to read the Elizabeth Quinn's story today - Hoy vamos a leer la historia de la Reina Elizabeth.
He/She: ¿Why this story? - ¿Por qué esta historia?

In spanish it doesn't make much sense. Review accents, commas and context.
Do you mean "historia" as "history" (the science), or "story" (a tale)? If it's the latter, it probably is : "What did [he/she/you...someone] choose that story (tale)" ?

Dales lo que piden. Solo por hoy (I think you mean "hoy" and not "hay"). Solo por esta noche.... -- Give them what they want. Just today. Just tonight.

All the other answers are wrong. It probably proceeded another statement. The subject must be built into the verb. "Why is IT history?"
