The proper grammar is : This is she or he. You can also say: This is she or he speaking. Another proper way to respond is: This is (your name).

It is correct also the "lady of the house" or" man of the house "is acceptable, the way to responde if you are not sure of the caller is "to whom am I speaking"

Yes it is. It does sound awkward. If someone calls and asks for Patti, I usually just say, "this is Patti," rather than, "this is she." Both ways are correct.

But (take no offense) what is the point of saying she/he, if the correct form is he/she, which has been used since Adam and Eve, and hasn't caused any harm to anyone except the modern feminists. Answer me that, please!!!

It depends on if you're a boy or girl.
Obviously it's "This is he/she."
NOT "This is him/her." That is the wrong way to say it.
