You need to go to a salon and get a deep conditioning treatment. or get Nexus brand or another salon brand leave in or deep conditioning treatment put it on your hair after shampooing it with a good brand shampoo like Nexsus for damaged hair. just keep your hair moisturize if your going to flat iron it, also use a heat protecting spray to protect your hair from damage before it happens, and keep it trimmed every 4 to 6 weeks. You should get a color glosser done at a salon even though your hair isn't colored cuz it will make it shiner and it is just a clear coating. Good luck

I just want to say my hair was always dull for so many years. Then one day last spring I quit blow drying my hair and haven't touched a dryer since.

Today I have full shine and it's silky too. I never had hair like this before. I have been blow drying my hair for over 20 years and it literally destroyed my hair and my own natural color which is black. The dryer made my hair a dull brown. Plus I could never have long hair because the ends were so dry. Today my hair is nice and long, shiny and silky. I still can't believe what a difference quitting blow dryers can do. (Or any hot instrument like a curling iron, etc...)

The other thing that may have helped me is my diet which is rich in fruit and vegetables mostly, plus protein. So I think the healthy diet helps a lot as well.

As far as products to buy, I still like Herbal Essences but I switch around to different ones to keep from build up. Nothing anymore expensive than 5 bucks at the most for shampoos and conditioners. Save your money, just treat your hair right!

You can use various leave in conditioners and oils. Try using a thermal product on your hair before flat ironing or blowing drying. This will protect your hair from the direct heat. I also use Biosilk products, the Silk Therapy are a good preblowdry and preflatiron product. There are lots of these products. One that i recommend is Joico Silk Result Instant Smoother. You can also use reconstructing conditioners that will help repair damage. These come as condtioners and also as leave in conditioners. I like to use Nexxus, Emergencee. It works very well and I see results. Aveda products also work very well too.

Joico K-Pak conditioner is the best for damaged hair. It can be used every day or as a deep conditioning mask.

I also recommend using a drop of jojoba hair to tame fly aways. It makes an excellent leave in conditioner & adds just a bit of sheen. Jojoba oil is non-comedogenic and washes out easily.
