Taking the class does not mean the ticket does not go on your record. It just means is doesn't count against you in determining if your license will be suspended. Contrary to popular belief, insurance companies don't care about points on your DMV record. They assign their own points based on actual violations on your record.

I live in Ohio, and if you get a ticket for a moving violation, then it does go on your record if you are found guilty. If you admit guilt or if you are found guilty in court, then it goes on your record. In Ohio, you carry the citation on your driving record for three years, but the points against your license applies for only one year. I hope that helped, and remember it may be different in your state. Good luck!
