this is right on the top of the gallup poll
3# On the illegal immigration issue, most Americans think it is important to control the flow of illegal immigrants into the United States as well as to address the status of illegal immigrants currently in the United States. At least 6 in 10 Americans favor allowing illegal immigrants a chance to become U.S. citizens if they meet certain requirements.

Since no one here believes this to be true, I will provide some legit links, one of them to U.S. News and World report. Enjoy:

Funny. . .
Americans are AGAINST illegal immigration. And Americans are AGAINST amnesty. Several different polls have stated that.
Legalization of the illegals in this country will not work. It didn't work in the 80's when Regan did it - all it did was escalate the number of illegals that flooded into this country hoping for what the others got.
Why are we rewarding criminals? Why is this even being discussed? More legal citizens are in our country's prisons due to their actions as a result of poverty - are we going to set them free because they are poor and did it to try and make a better life for themselves by breaking our laws? It is the same thing. A criminal is a criminal, and breaking the law is breaking the law.
If they respect this country so much and want to be in it, then they would do so legally. And don't give me the money bs - there are a lot of things I would like but don't have the money for. I either save for them or don't get them. Why should they be any different? It is a slap in the face to those that follow the laws and enter this country legally - why should others get preferential treatment due to being "poor"?
What a crock. I don't buy the poll, and I don't think that giving criminals a "free pass" is the way to solve anything. Anyone that does really needs to evaluate their position. Do you think that ALL criminals should be treated the same due to their economic status? Because a lot of dangerous fellons will be on the street if something passes. . .

Do you think some illegal people would make better US citizens than some of the people born here and abusing the welfare system, etc? At least the "illegal" would work and pay taxes whereas the rest of us work and pay taxes for the lazy person to scam the government and us. Why aren't we all more upset about that. Can we exchange 1 "illegal" to come here and one "scammer" to go to the others country.

I checked the Gallup poll you provided as a link, Nowhere does it cite the poll group numbers, or the margin of error. I also never saw anywhere within the contents of the poll results anything resembling 75 % for any given question.
As I studied the results of this poll you provided, I came to the conclusion that, overall, of the people who answered the survey, approximately 45% of them did not fully undersand or completely comprehend the questions being asked. the other 55% of the responses werent in favor of ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.
You had better double check your FACTS. Or at the very least, understand what your posting.

All of the following data comes from your first link. Did you read the whole thing?
"... Americans -- including a majority of U.S. Hispanics -- are now most likely to believe there are too many immigrants from Latin American countries."
"Only 17% favor increased immigration."
"... 39% say it should be decreased ..."
And then of course, if you analyze this a little (which you obviously did not), you will see that the majority of Americans favor one of the following conditions....
1. Require to leave, not allow to return (14%)
2. Require to leave, allow to return temporarily to work (6%)
3. Require to leave, allow to return and become citizens if requirements met. (42%)
4. Allow to remain in the U.S. and become citizens if requirements met. (36%).
5. No opinion (2%)
There is a major problem with this poll, because it doesn't account for any of the loons who want unrestricted amnesty, but unfortunately there are a few out there. But NOT A SINGLE PERCENTAGE POINT in this poll reflects anyone who thinks that way.
You see, that's the problem with polls. So many people are blinded by their ideology and will read into it whatever they want. This is in addition to the questionable confidence interval of these types of things. But statistics is a whole other story.
You have seriously misread this poll to dovetail with your wishes, man.

If you are talking about granting legal status to illegal immigrants, than no, I don't agree. I do agree with some of the points in the poll you referenced, though. Immigration is definitely important in this country - without it we would actually have a declining population. But we have immigration laws in place for a reason; anyone who broke the law to get here does not deserve a free ride.

The average American has no idea the impact of giving amnesty to between 12-20 million is going to have on their life's, both in money and pure numbers.

Did you read the galluppol you cited? It shows, for instance, that 81% of Americans are against increasing immigration. And that 62% think all 12 million illegals should be /required to leave the country/.

Just because a majority of people believe in something doesn't mean that I will. The only thing I'd be doing is perhaps, grudgingly going along with it.
