I think it means Mexican gangster. But can I use it for all hispanics in speaking spanish?

I don't mean I'd call every Mexican that. Plus I'm hispanic. I'm asking if I can call, Puerto Ricans, etc. cholo too.

If you want to convey to someone the idea of a Chicano/a gangbanger (or someone in that "style") you can use "cholo/chola", but you wouldn't go up to that person and say "Oye, cholo!" Just call 'em "homie" -- get the job done and everyone is cool!
And please everyone, stop with the Peruvian, Argentinian, Guatemalan Indians, half-breeds, Cholula sauce, etc etc--they are not talking about that; the meaning of words changes in new cultural settings

Well it does mean "Mexican Gangster." But I wouldn't use that word if I was you. It's not very appropiate if you ask me, after all not all of them are "cholos." And even if some are.. i'm pretty sure they wouldn't want to be called that.

Actually a Cholo is an indigenous Peruvian Indian.
In Mexico is a gang member.
