I have a 14 yo and 11 yo that share a room. THey both like bright colors, flowers and butterflies.
I painted their room a light purple color and stenciled butterflies in different colors on their walls. I got a desk and painted that a bright green that coordinates with the purple and I painted the inside of the door that bright green as well. I stencilled the butterflies and flowers on the door and desk to tie them into the room better, being careful not to overdo the designs.
Wal mart had some pretty bright green fabric with butterflies and flowers in the same colors as I had painteds on the walls- I got this and some light purple fabric and made curtains. My inlaws sent them comfortors from penneys that had the same bright green, pink and purple colors as on the wall. I kept an eye out for little decorations- like a clock that has a big pink and green butterfly and matched well, a little lamp with pink and purple buterflies, a shower curtain that matched well in colors to cover their closet- then we got little organizer baskets and containers to put under the beds and in the closet to keep all of hteir things tidy. I also found some buterfly and flower shaped decorative pillows or their beds.
It was amazing how many different places I got things and how well it all tied together. I even found a wooden shelf at a garage sale that already had flowers painted on it, they were the same colors as the flowers already in the room so I put it on their wall for knick knacks.
Think about what colors you like and what kinds of things you would like to have around you to make your room special and your own personal space. Look in catalogs and magazines for color combinations- pick what you like and use that as your starting point- then look for fabrics to make your own accessories, get bedding that matchesand find things that you need and will make you comfortable but will flow with the colors and / or theme of the room.

What're your favorite colors? Do you have any hobbies, or perhaps any movies that you like a lot? Start with that. And have fun! Add posters, or perhaps murals if your parents will let you paint them. Put up shelves for your things. Keep in mind that I don't really know what kind of space you have to work with. But I think it's neat that you get to redecorate!

My suggestion is to paint it either entirely in a nice, but neutral colour, or paint it light purple, and have one dark/bright purple wall. It gives it a bit of...style. Also, posters are good! Get something you like, either actors or dramatic things, or movie posters.
Make your room look tidy, but fun, by arranging things on the shelves, and get a few pretty pillows for your bed :)

What about a mural on the walls? Realistic clouds are fun and calming, a garden setting with favourite flowers or under the sea.

Roxy bedding- it fairly is honestly in all probability too high priced for you, so pass with bright Wamsutta bedding. physique pillows, throw cushions, and throws. additionally, a advantageous neon colored rug, perhaps. in my opinion, i've got grown out of that insane teenage mattress room project, and think of that's in all probability a extra helpful thought to speculate in a mattress room paint which will adventure you till you're older.

You could try getting the big JC Penney catalog and looking at all their bedroom sets. They usually have good ideas.
