It seems the Islam they were following they didn't know at all and the Quran they were reading they either didn't know at all or it was a poor translation.

These are the rules in the Quran for dealing with hypocrites, not "non-Muslims" an important fact you overlooked Mr. Ivri. The hypocrites being the ones who take the Shahada but are really enemies of islam and were helping the pagans. Clearly as long as someone is not taking life or land, or supporting others to do so, there is no reason to do anything but live peacefully with them.
[60:8] GOD does not enjoin you from befriending those who do not fight you because of religion, and do not evict you from your homes. You may befriend them and be equitable towards them. GOD loves the equitable.
[60:9] GOD enjoins you only from befriending those who fight you because of religion, evict you from your homes, and band together with others to banish you. You shall not befriend them. Those who befriend them are the transgressors

How good of you Mr. Ivri, to cherrypick exactly what you wanted to hear from the Quran without understanding the context in which it was created, you have proven my question exactly, real Muslims do not go around quoting the silly nonsense spread by the critics of Islam.

I agree with you 100%. These people who thought they were once Muslims were obviously not shown the true Islam, and they unfortunately did not care to learn and have faith.
I thank God that I am Muslim, and we should all say that everyday.
And Allah (swt) knows best.

Obviously they don't agree with Islam and that is their own issue. We shouldn't judge them, and they shouldn't judge us. They probably talk about Muslims in negative ways because of what they see in the media, without knowledge a person will believe whatever they are told.
So instead of worrying about why these people are talking badly about Islam, why not try and educate them about the actual religion. If they find the truth to their liking, that is great. If their still not convinced there is nothing else you can do but let everyone live in peace.

The person you're refering to is a troll. A troll is someone who poses as one thing to create hatred and exclusion.
Trolls should be reported to keep these boards clean and productive, so ideas can be exchanged, even if there's disagreement, without insults and violence promotion. The world has enough hate from both sides of the equation. Thank God most Christians and most Muslims are decent people.

When they convert to islam is not with sincerety , they dont really read the Quran and understand it .
Like some of these ex Muslim , they convert to other religion just because of Money ,fame , failure in relasionship ..etc.
To me they who did these betrayed themself and they are the slave of the satan . They lies just to gave an excusesand to d face Islam but deep ..deep inside their heart they know that they are the biggest lier . .
When you are not HONEST & SINCERE with yourself how can U be honest to others .... so to all these ex .... STOP ALL THE LIES ESPECIALLY TO YOURSELF.

terrorist are prime examples of hypocrites of Islam...they don't know how to perceive anything...that is way Islam is in this mess, we seemed to be doing just fine until they came along and decided Islam needed to be given an upgrade...now almost everyone thinks that if we are Muslim we are terrorist, the bashing is more deeper too.
ex-Muslims are taught through media to hate Muslims...take out the Media and stereotype, and the rest of the bashing and extended hate might just slow down...God Willing...intolerant people tend to attack things they don't understand...some approach with genuine curiosity, others approach with close minded bashing propaganda...

Almost everyone believes that what they believe in is correct. You have your beliefs and they have theirs. Doesn't mean you are a liar when you tell someone what you believe and they say you are wrong. Sorry, common religious conflict here........ When it comes down to it, we are all wrong. I dont know anyone who was around when the earth was created, or when Christ was crucified on the cross. Do you?

Why do the answers from all Muslims contain falsifications?
There are three main translations of the holy Quran into English. I hope that the asker does not think that they are "poor translations."
Let us compare how they translate Sura 4:89, dealing with how to treat the infidel:
YUSUFALI: They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (from what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, SEIZE THEM AND SLAY THEM wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks.
PICKTHAL: They long that ye should disbelieve even as they disbelieve, that ye may be upon a level (with them). So choose not friends from them till they forsake their homes in the way of Allah; if they turn back (to enmity) then TAKE THEM AND KILL THEM wherever ye find them, and choose no friend nor helper from among them.
SHAKIR: They desire that you should disbelieve as they have disbelieved, so that you might be (all) alike; therefore, take not from among them friends until they fly (their homes) in Allah's way; but if they turn back, then SEIZE THEM AND KILL THEM wherever you find them, and take not from among them a friend or a helper.
The comparison is most interesting. We must choose between seizing and killing the non-Muslim, taking and killing the non-Muslim, and seizing and slaying the non-Muslim.
