there's dis method we use, it's called SOHCAHTOA. it stands for:
S=sine
O=opposite
H=hypothenus
C=cosine
A=adjacent
H=hypothenus
T=tanjent
O=opposite
A=adjacent
also emember tan=sine/cosine.

Ok.. your question is a little vague like saying how do you use basic water" but let me give it a shot.
Trig. (sine, cos. & tangent) are ratios which allow you to calculate all of the elements of a triangle (sides and angles) when you only know a few of them.
The triangle has very uniquie properties in that it is the basic building block of almost every other straight sided figure. (that is intended to exclude circles, curves, elipsii, etc..).
all triangles have two sides and at least one hypotenuse. (Isoc. triangles have 2 and equiliteral have 3 since all sides are equal)
But all of the have the same ratio between the sides as they do the angles.
Thus if you have the typical abc right-triangle used in math, side a/ porortioned to the hyp. (c) is equal to the sine of the angle opposite side a. If you know the angle and the sine you can calculate the other angle using that proportion.. and the third angle based on the sum of the first two.
As an example of an application, you can apply this in the real world to determine distances between objects without ever measuring that distance.. the height of a telephone pole for example by applying the measured angle to the top and the measured distance to the base.

There are scales which will give you the sines of any angle. The calculations are then simple; add, subtract, multiply or divide-or combinations of these.

use your calculator. It all depends on what the problem is, because it can be in radians or degress, or you could be using the inverse sine to find an angle, or regular sine to find the length of the hypotenuse or opposite sides of a triangle. ***
