Are any of you going to the Remembrance Service in Washington DC tomorrow? Any local departments planning anything for the week?

Just wanted to thank all of you also for the huge sacrifices you and your families make on a daily basis.

And for those of you who cannot respect our Heroes in Blue, please do not take the time to respond. I will not hesitate to report you on this one. Thanks!

I have some friends who are going up to the Police Officers Memorial in Sacramento.
I'm going to the wreath ceremony at Parker Center in and then I will be going to work.
Your thank you and this question are most appreciated, ma'am.

I'm a civilian. I've had relatives in the force. One was murdered. I don't absolve policemen. It's a very real calling. I do my remembrance by divine law.

Testimony like Peter Maas' excellent biography ' Serpico ' where the description of what a serving officer actually is is beautifully painted. I remember the ones that are fallen from way back like Olsen and Walsh in Chicago in the roaring twenties.

I have no sympathy for the us and them stance. Or the ' few bad apples ' bit. We're not running an orchard, here.

I also remember the fact that while the thin blue line occupies the most strategic point in the world, I'm quietly confident that in it's endeavors against evil, however well, or badly, no matter how engulfing evil seems, there is a higher power.

The immutable fact that no matter how bad it seems, you can't go wrong doing the right thing.

Wouldn't it be great if we could put every cop out of a job on the planet by treating each other decently, honestly and with respect? Put those guys back in the kitchen on weekends doing that rotten meat loaf special so many are expert at so you ladies can get an excuse to get outta the kitchen? LOL!
