SHORT hair, new hours, new food, dungarees, running, push-ups... and if you're not 20/20 vision you get BCG's (Birth Control Glasses) !!
I can't tell you much else as it was 22 years ago that I went through Naval Recruit Training... and I went thru Orlando, Florida in March/April/May... HOT, RAINING, HUMID !!
Good luck and Welcome Aboard Shipmate-to-be.

Every branch of service takes away your contacts and give you boot camp issued glasses. It is much safer. If you had in contacts and something got in your eye it is going to be much worse than it would be with out the contacts. Then what if the contact falls out while you are rubbing your eye!? Now you can't see. I dont' know about Navy but Marines go to the gas chamber and you really don't want CS gas in your eyes! Once you finish boot camp you can wear your regular glasses.

You will lean the definition of "hurry up and wait."You will learn there are three ways of doing something-. The right way, the wrong way, the Navy way. You will learn there are two sizes of clothing, "You'll lose weight" and " you'll grow into them."
Do you like astronomy. You'll love getting up before dawn to watch the sun rise.
New adventures in fine dining. Chipped beef on toast at 530 Am. Yum!!

You'll learn to work as a team. You'll feel yourself becoming more self-confident. you'll feel yourself becoming more and more physically fit, The days may drag but the weeks fly by, and when you graduate, you'll feel a sense of pride unlike anything you ever felt before.
Congratulations, sailor!

This accurate type of information is unavailable on Yahoo Answers.
You must visit with, or telephone your hometown military Recruiters for the very latest information. (A visit is best when getting your information.)
Right now, start making a list of all the questions you can think of. When the time comes, take your list of questions with you to the hometown military Recruiter and "pick their brain" to ensure all your questions are answered.
Also ask what types of high school courses you would also need to graduate high school, which would be to your advantage for your potential future job, when enlisting in the military.

A lot of discipline, Physical training, school work, and not much sleep! just keep your mouth shut, speak only when spoken to and keep your eyes open. It will not be fun but if you follow those rules you will be O.K.
