I'm just wondering, how many people out there are taking some form of anti-depressant, how long have you been on them, what are they doing for you and are you having other treatment such as theripy

I have been on them sine 1999. I can say that I feel uch better on the meds then off of them. I do go to therapy about once a month, but am fixing to stop. I recommend that all new patients seek some form of counseling, because the problem may be an acute one that can be solved on the short term with therapy and medicine. Not everyone who gets on an anti depressant has to take them their whole lives.

I'm on an anti-depressant, a mood stablizer, and an anti-psychotic. I've been on this specific combination for about a year, but I've been on these kinds of meds for about four years. At least, that's when we started trying to find the right meds. It can take a while. I was in therapy for a while, with an individual therapist, and in a DBT group. I'm currently working on finding a new therapist since I haven't been in several months. I'm more stable than I have been in years on these meds, though. Stressful events still throw me into emotional chaos, but in general I'm far closer to normal.

I take wellbutrin XL, and it works great for my depression. It also feels like it adds to my energy levels, but I guess that is bc I don't feel so down anymore, and I want to do stuff now. I have been on wellbutrin for a few months now. I took it a few years ago, when my son was a victim of child abuse, and it helped me get through tough times. I also had therapy, which helped, but was way costly! So recently I got back on the Wellbutrin, but do not use therapy, it is too expensive for a single mom, but I talk to friends who are healthy for me, and it seems to be working as good as any therapist I have ever been too.

I've been taking Wellbutrin XL since September of 2004 and it works well for me. I've also had therapy which helps but I would suggest doing your homework and try to find one who has gotten good ratings from others. The right therapist can make all the difference.
