browns and other neutral colors are mixes of all the colors. A warm brown, which is what you probably want, should use mostly warm colors. I would mix together red and yellow, then add just a tiny bit of blue or green. If it's still too orange, try adding a little more. But be careful, blue goes a long way. If it gets too grayish or black, add more red and yellow.

Green, yellow and red OR orange makes brown for me all the time. If you haven't any black, dark blue paint will make it darker brown, but the 3 colors should do the trick. Just start with a pinch of each to see what you get then play around the quantities.

Any time you mix colors opposite each other on the color wheel in more or less equal amounts, you will get brown, therefore you can use any of the following:
--red and green
--blue and orange
--yellow and purple

Purple and orange should get you a pretty good brown, maybe add a little yellow or red depending on what kind of color you're going for.

Adding green to orange will make brown, just add a little at a time till you get the shade you want.
