No its not wet tail!
In short, you gave your hamster a real good scare, sounds like she was petrified. Hamsters squeal, hiss, bite and make funny grinding noises with their teeth if they feel scared, threatened, nervous, or if they want to be left alone.
If she has had a violent past as you put it, then you need to be vey patient, calm and understanding in how to handle her. Gentle, handeling is needed, and on a regu;ar basis to make her more sociable.
Hamsters scare easy, they hear things that we dont. And as they are partially blind, they rely on sound, smell and touch to determine if they are under any threat.
My hamster is over a year old and very calm and relaxed in character, he has never bitten. But last night he was on my lap and i leant over to get something of the table and he ran! he got such a scare, me and my husband could not understand it as there was no loud noise, or a fast sudden movement, and it upset me! but afetr a few minutes we calmed him down and he curled up on us for a snooze. They are just such delicate creatures.

Wet Tail is diarrhoea caused be a bacterial infection - if your hamster had this he'd literally be damp around his tail area, and would seem sleepy and lethargic. He certainly wouldn't run all night on his wheel!
From what you've said, I don't think your hamster is ill. I just think you need to handle him more to get him used to you - daunting I know, but hamsters often bite a lot at first, they're much more prone to it than other rodents. When I got my hamsters, I had to handle them with thick gloves for about the first month until they got used to me. So get some gloves and go for it! Know that many hamsters turn violent if disturbed, particularly if woken up.
If your hamster ever develops the wet tail symptoms I described, or seems lethargic at all, or stops eating, then it's time to go to a vet.

It doesn't sound like wet tail. Maybe you just need to be there for her and show her that you love her. You'll probably get bitten a few times if she is acting like that, but if it doesn't stop within a month or two I'd take her to the vet. The bites don't hurt too much, by the way, just for a second.

It doesn't have wet tail unless it is showing signs of diarrhea and has a dirty bottom.
Your hamster was defending her territory against you. What breed is it a dwarf or a Syrian (large breed)? He felt your aggitation towards him because of his running the wheel all night. Male hamsters generally aren't aggressive, but depending on his past, it's hard to say. Now do you have a male or female, you keep changing from he to she in your information? Females are a bit more aggressive especially when invading their habitat or when in heat, which is every 4-5 days. When we take our hamster our either Syrian or dwarf, we coax them out to the door of their cage, then pick them up. Dwarf hamsters are know for being more quick to bite to begin with. You need to more gentle in picking up your hamster and don't try when your upset over anything, they will know it and will act accordingly to your attitude.

it is not wet tail. wet tail is essentially hamster diahyrria. and rather hard to treat. i had a new figity hamster that got wet tail somehow and hes still rather difficult. i think he associates my hand smell with the nasty tasting medicine.
but train your hamster to start going into a toilet paper roll. first introduce her to it. let her look at it. then after a few days, try to get her to go through it. like temp her with a yummy yogurt drop to make her go through it. then start lifting her up that way.
it takes some patience. and make sure you have a steady hand. she will know if you and scared of her, hand slightly unsteady. and i know it sucks to have a hamster bite, but its not the end of the world.
luck!

it might to due to the fact you didn't handle the hamster for a short period of time and because of so, it became wild. You will just need to tame it again.
I have a female who runs the wheel all night too.
