alright. im trying to lose weight. but i want to do that by eating helathier, because i am not very active.

heres my preferences...

. i want to eat things that are simple and healthy. i usually have big lunches and dinners, no breakfasts, with snacks inbetween. im trying to cut down on that. for example, i want to start eating, say a granola bar for break. and a simple sandwich and fruit for lunch, and a meal and veggies for dinner.

. there are some things that i wont eat. for example, i hate tomatoes. im sorry. and im not a big meat eater, either. NOW, i am NOT a vegitarian. i love steak and chicken, but i will go no where near hamburgers. you may think im crazy, but they are just not my thing AT ALL.

. i want the preparation to be easy, too. for example, a sandwich is easy. bread, ham and cheese. boom, done.

You already have the right idea.
Eat a balance of healthy nutritious foods with some proteins some meat but not too much. Some carbohydrates give you energy to exercise and keep you going. Eat only when you are hungry and not when "its time". Your body has its own wisdom and knows better not to overload or add more when you really don't need it. Stop eating when you feel you don't need any more instead of when the package is empty. With a balance of nutritious foods when you need it instead of by schedule or habit, you'd feel satiated and don't have urges for more more more...

Consider this too :

What else you should do is avoid "diet" foods or be very skeptical and cautious about them. They're in business to stay in business and to sell more of it !!! If you don't feel nourished and satiated, you'd have the urge for more. Furthermore, you'd have a false sense of security with diet foods, thinking you can eat more of it, because its "diet" foods. Two meals at half the calories still equals the same amount of calories, but you pay for two meals. You would be better off having a spoonful of olive oil and a spoon of sugar instead (or candy made with sucrose instead of fructose), then you'd have no appetite no urge to eat regardless of the temptations or rationalizations. That idea actually works, but the diet industry won't make money off of that.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

You should check out weight watchers, it lets you eat anything you want as long as you stay within your calories/points limit. It's really simple and it's a good way to keep track of what you eat and your portions.

Also, they have a new section of WW that's called CORE and it's a diet where you can eat 1 serving of potatos, whole grain pasta, and sugar free cereal, and as much as you want of the following: 98% fat free popcorn, fat-free milk, lean meats, fruits, vegetables, and sugar free fat free pudding (any flavor).

Here's what I eat pretty much everyday:

Breakfast: Two egg whites and one yolk mixed with low-fat cheese, salt, pepper, and green onions. Hot tea with lemon, 1/2 of a whole wheat english muffin with sugar free jam, and a handful of whatever fruits i have on hand.
Lunch: Clear broth soup (chicken noodle, egg drop, etc) and a small side salad no dressing with cut up grilled chicken.
Snack: Glass of milk and a bag of 100 calorie popcorn
Dinner: A piece of fish (salmon or tuna) the size of a deck of cards grilled. with as much veggies as I can and a baked potato with lowfat sour cream. and a glass of low fat milk.
Dessert (occasionally): a small scoop of vanila low fat ice cream with fruit or a cup of low fat vanilla yogurt with strawberries and blueberries.

You say you don't eat breakfast, and that's really bad because that is what kick-starts your metabolism in the morning and if you don't have that you eat more during the day, if you don't like to eat breakfast you should try to atleast have something to drink and maybe some whole wheat toast or soemthing. I ahve found that when I don't eat breakfast i eat more junk during the day. so breakfast is important.
