NO! I am saying if women is the weaker vessel and man the head, then God would require more of a man than a woman--- this is what you all have preached, now stick with it--- if a woman does a better job than a man, God would esteem her?

If this is so, when Jesus met the woman at the well, he asked her , "Woman, where art thou husband" demonstrating he wanted to speak with HIM since women are as "children"

Absolutely! In fact in the middle ages, women were seen as the evil sex, who led 'good' men into sin by their lusty ways. But I think God is an equal opportunity judge.

The Biblical view of women
The God of the Bible decrees that woman must submit to the dominance of man.
"The social and legal position of an Israelite wife was inferior to the position a wife occupied in the great countries round about... all the texts show that Israelites wanted mainly sons to perpetuate the family line and fortune, and to preserve the ancestral inheritance... A husband could divorce his wife; women on the other hand could not ask for divorce... the wife called her husband Ba'al or master; she also called him adon or lord; she addressed him, in fact, as a slave addressed his master or subject, his king. The Decalogue includes a man's wife among his possessions... all her life she remains a minor. The wife does not inherit from her husband, nor daughters from their father, except when there is no male heir. A vow made by a girl or married woman needs, to be valid, the consent of the father or husband and if this consent is withheld, the vow is null and void. A man had a right to sell his daughter. Women were excluded from the succession."

Dear Noah hope,
The Lord holds both genders equally accountable for sin.
When the Bible says that women are the "weaker" vessel the context of that passage uses a word for "weaker" indicating preciousness. It's almost like men are steel plates and women are fine china so in that passage men are called to protect women.
The word weaker does not mean that women have a lesser capacity to resist sin.
The truth is all people struggle with sin and gender wise there are certain sins that one gender may struggle with more than the other (ie: men might struggle more with lust, but women might struggle more with gossip).
God's requirement is perfection (which no one can meet) and this is why people receive forgiveness of sin by putting their faith in Jesus Christ's work on the cross.
The Bible teaches that God values both men and women and that men and women have different roles but one is not more important than the other.
Hope that helps. Kindly,
Nickster

You're way off base, man.
Jesus asked the woman at the well where her husband is because He knew very well she was sleeping with a man not her husband! Not because He just didn't want to talk to her because she's not good enough. The point of that scripture was that she was loved. Jesus loved her and wanted to save her and wanted her to know that!
God uses many women in the Bible.

This is an EXTREMELY loaded question. Over the centuries in which the Bible has been used as religious authority, and across many cultures (not to mention across the faiths of both Judaism and Christianity), there have been many, many, many variances in how gender has been understood, and what the obligations of men and women have been understood not only in relation to God, but to each other. Obviously, in our day the question of gender and God is hardly settled at all: as an obvious illustration, some churches (Episcopal, Quaker, United Church of Christ for example) are very welcoming toward feminists and people of both genders who argue that Christianity needs to radically re-think the relationship between the genders. Of course, many other churches are much more conservative in their thinking, and often see themselves as opposed to feminism. If you are speaking from a Christian perspective, remember St. Paul's declaration that "In Christ there is neither male nor female" -- which is often interpreted as an argument for gender equality within Christianity.

I think so. Remember we are free from bondage through Jesus, and He is no respecter of persons. We are equal in God's eyes through Jesus.
However, I am old fashioned and I do prefer a male minister or preacher in the Church. I know that women are very capable, but in terms of authority, I prefer the male to be in that position. Same thing for the household.

as far as i know the bible is a chauvinist's favorite book...
most of the scripts chosen for the torah was meant to emphasize men's role in Christianity...
yet if scrutinized, it almost started & ended with a dominant female figure...
Eve as the catalyst of human "knowledge" & free will
& the unNamed woman at the book of revelation who saved & hid the baby from a dragon. till the 2nd coming.
the world too is entrusted to a woman...
We as his children(as represented by john) was implored to be taken care of by Jesus' mother Mary...
& then there are some uncannonized books refering to a certain Mary of Magdala as Jesus' favorite apostle,
which made the 12 male ones furious of jealosy.
since Jesus' teachings is more about equality
which was politically despised during his time,
i hope in the future, his good intention will come to reality-
lets not wait for 2 more millenia for it to be achieved.

"Sin" is any reference to human freedom. Freedom is the same for men and women. God created all humans to be free. Religion, a class of political organizatrions, invented "sin" to remove human freedom and make humans into robotic mindless slaves for the purposes of greater and easier profits for themselves. Christianity, one of these political organizations, was created to manage the slaves of the Roman Empire, protect the wealth of the aristocracy from them, and make them safe, obedient, docile, energetic, and profitable. Yes, because men and women are equal in the sight of God. They are different, yes, but they are still sinners and in need of a Savior.
