Depends on your religion...

Atheism: animals don't have souls, and neither do humans.
Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Islam, Judaism): humans have souls, but animals do not.
Hinduism: animals have souls as well as humans.

Philosophically speaking, you cannot know for certain that anyone other than yourself has a soul (mind) but you can be certain that humans have souls than animals, since humans are more similar to you (and you have a soul).

If there is a God and he is good in any ounce of his being, animals have larger souls that humans. Animals live with their environment and humans destroy the environment. Amazingly that religious people are not up in arms to save the planet and all inhabitants (animals), since their God created it, however it always seems more atheists are for saving the planet and religious people just destroy is more and more, taking it for granted.

Animals have souls, but their souls are not spirits. Souls are the life force that animates the Body, wheras a spirit is an eternal infinite non-material being. For humans, our spirits act as our souls, but for animals, their souls are not spirits.

I believe it was only of man that God said He gave "the breath of life" and made them/us a "living soul." See Genesis 2:7.

Animals don't have souls, but I think they will be in Heaven anyway. There's that verse about how "the lion and the lamb will lie down together".

I hope that my doggie who committed suicide will be in Heaven.

It's all in what you believe. I think they do. I think they go to heaven, too. I'll get slammed by religious fanatics who swear they don't...but it doesn't mention anything about it in the Bible, so it's anyone's guess.

If only God gives life, and only God takes it away...an animal's life force had to start somewhere. If He didn't put the life force into them...then what? They're all of Satan? I don't think so.
