Because they all feel like they are under attack by the other group. If they would just stay in their own respected questions. When an atheist ask a rude question about how can one believe in God, Christan's should just not give in, and leave those alone. Atheist need not comment on a religious question about faith or God. They should just stay away from each other. You are not going to convert one another, and your comments are not going to make a point with someone who does not believe or have the same faith you do.

Let's be fair: not everyone. Certainly there are people here who are uptight and obnoxious, and there are also people who are flippant and downright rude. But there are also those who answer thoughtfully, as I try to do, and who are really interested in using this opportunity for communication in the way it was designed.
Part of the problem is that people do not come here to have their religion changed; they rarely appreciate proselytizing. But they are curious about people who believe things different from themselves, and they may have heard a lot of things which are not true. If you give an honest, thoughtful and non-judgmental answer, you will be doing your own religion a service.

Hey sweetie. Its the demons. They hang out here hoping to discourage someone who's not secure in their faith. They do it through so called atheists, muslims, middle eastern nonsense, etc. Anywhere Christians gather they are there. Of course in public they won't come into the light as much as when its anonymous like this.
Don't let them discourage you. Some even pose as Christians and are nasty to others. You can tell who's real. Only we can say "Jesus is Lord" from the Spirit.
Have you noticed its worse here than anywhere on Answers? Go check it out. That's because Christ is really the only thing that matters in this life. Everything else is just distraction and the demons know it, so they harrass and try to destroy. You see they already know their fate, the lake of fire, and they want to take as many with them as possible, or failing that they want to blaspheme God and tarnish His glory.
But we won't let them do it. We'll stay civil and pray for them, right? God bless.

I don't know if everyone in the religious world is untight and obnoxious but I can tell you this. When the love of God does not dwell in your heart through the Holy Spirit your behavior is not going to change. You are going to be afraid and live in fear. Without the spirit of Christ you are going to be uptight and obnoxious.

many of the people come here for the purpose of arguing.
it is a way to be confrontational and yet not have to confront people in person. so they get to release their frustrations, without personal contact.

The same reason people outside of it are. Intollerance. Not every religious person is like that, don't generalize.
