I am amazed at some of these responses. Some of them say it is perfectly alright for them to think as they please instead of what the bible (which they profess to believe) tells them to believe. What it comes down to is that you do as you please. I, on the other hand, am a scummy, low down, sneaking, lying, cheating, atheistic blight on your religious society. Talk about hypocrisy.Gimmie a break.

The bible was written over 2000 years ago, by man. At that time slavery was common and the bible was actually a way to keep slaves submissive. Now we know that slavery is morally wrong. Just because it was OK 2000 years ago doesn't mean it's good for today's society.

Oh you poor poor kid.

A servant is paid. A slave is not. A servant is a hired hand. A slave is someone who was taken by force then made to work for someone else.

While the Old Testament makes mention to indentured servants it also says they are to be freed in the Jubilee year. The Hebrews got in deep trouble with the Almighty when they refused to let their indentured servants go so God sent them into slavery themselves to teach them a lesson.

Because the bible is wrong. And if it can be wrong about that, it can be wrong about other things. But the Christians don't like to admit it.
