Hey lloyd h,

The name comes dates back from the 18th century when there was a kingdom called Nyayogyakarta Hadiningrat under the rule of Sultan Hamengku Buwono I (http://www.geocities.com/in_yogyakarta/).

I wonder if the word is Indonesian or Javanese, Sudanese or any of the other languages spoken in Indonesia.

Jogjakarta (Yogyakarta in Indonesian) is a city in Central Java, Indonesia. It is the capital of the province with the same name.

It is famous as one of the main tourist destinations in Indonesia and a great place to visit.
