Conservative Talk Radio. It'll get your blood boiling whether you are conservative or liberal.
Other talk radio shows about subjects you find interesting. You can find all kinds of podcasts out there. Just put them on an IPod, or you can even burn them to audio CD. There are podcasts about every subject you could possibly be interested in.
An alternative is to go to your library, and look for some books on CD, and listen to them.
NPR is good. It's got better news stories than regular news. Although they still have a lot of stuff about Iraq and washington politics. They do have other good stories about business, books, human interest, etc.
Lastly, burn some CDs with some of your favorite music to get you reved up.
The last thing you want to do is talk on the phone. Please hang up and drive.

iPod or good morning radio show are both driver friendly ways to stay entertained, sometimes informed and able to pay attention to the road. I also agree that if you find a store that you like to pick up a coffee and beverage for work, that breaks up your commute a little as well.
If you reside in a more urban area, there will be enough to keep your attention on the way into work unless you work an odd hour shift. (I'm assuming you're keeping a fairly standard schedule.) On the way home, don't worry about racing home like everyone else. I don't understand why everyone feels that they HAVE to be home at 5:05pm!!! Most of the accidents I see daily in the late afternoon involve people driving too fast and recklessly on their way home to see their family... kind of ironic.
Hope this helps some, good luck with the new job too!

I usually setup my laptop on the passengers seat, and run my Slingbox remote TV viewer. I have a Sprint EVDO card, so I can use Sprints wireless Broadband anywhere on sprint network. Soooooo I play my home TV through my car speakers. I turn the screen away so I am not tempted to look at it, and just let the audio play over my car speakers. Keeps the mind from going into Highway Hipnosis, and really makes the longer commutes and road trips much shorter, especially when I go to pickup the buss's, which can be a cross country drive back that I havae to make in 24 hrs...
