I have an .avi file on my pc, but when i burn it to a cd it wont play on the dvd player. What format do i need to change the .avi to for it to be able to play on the dvd player. do i need any software?

I recommend DVD Flick. It's simple, free, and does exactly what you want. It does convert to DVD format however, so you will need a DVD burner to use it.

You have to change the avi file format to dvd format a good program for that is avs video tools i have it and i swear by it but you have to buy it heres the website www.avsvideotools.com good luck PS it also does a lot of other conversions as well

Unless your DVD player can play Divx, you will need a piece of software that converts AVI to MPEG2+.
It will be a long process, I tried this last week, I imagined it could take upto half a day to convert s whole movie

I'm going to suggest the same thing i got.

there is a catch

ConvertXtoDVD

if you use the trial it puts a ugly water mark on the video

but for a small fee you can get pure dvd that will play on any player..

i used it earlier to make Electric Dreams.
