40% of the daily comes should be derived from proteins, 405 from low GI carbs and 20% from fats.

at 1,000 cals a day you are not going to gain any muscle or lose any fat for that matter. 1,000 cals is barely enough for a 2 year old

I was in the same boat.. I am 5'10" and about 160. I hit the gym 4 days a weekend and had to eat 4 to 6 times a day. First of all you're not eating nearly enought calories. I was getting about 3000 calories and around 150 grams of protien. I'm now 185 and loving it. Good luck buddy..

You need much more calories, yo'd need about 2700, but dont quote me on that. I should have 3000 calories if im bulking (5ft10 and 197). You also need 1.5 grams of protein per pound of your weight. Split your meals into about 6 - 8 meals. 2 grams of complex carbs per pound of your weight. 4 eggs in the morning would give you about 30 grams of protein. go onto www.bodybuilding.com and they have a great nutrition database that gives you values for loads of food. Mass gain, needs alot of calories. Remember the daily reccomendations are for people who aren't bodybuilding. So just eat like a machine.

the rule of thumb is 1 gram of protein for every pound of weight you carry.

1 large egg has 6.3 g protein in it
1/2 breast of chicken (3oz) has 26.7 g protein in it
3 oz serving of steak (lean cut) has 26 g protein

other good sources are:
whey protein powder (add to glass of milk)
dairy: milk/yogurt/cottage cheese
fish: tuna and salmon

you are definitely under eating if you eat 1000 cal a day. the base rate for you should be from 1500-2100. use calorieking.com to figure out exactly how much you are getting per day and for other caloric figures.
