will walking help to decrease body fat? yes, but it is surely not optimum for fat loss. the lower the intensity of exercise the less calories are expended during exercise and the less the increase on the metabolic rate there will be. if running hurt your joints then your probably need to do some resistance training as well.

absolutely. other things that work:
squats (with or without weight)
lunges
there are also a couple of stretches you can do
1. slightly arching your back, bend from the waist until you feel the pull in the back of your thighs. these ar the hamstrings, and working them will give your upper thighs a nice muscular curve ( not butch though). just that shapely look.
2.sit on the floor with the bottoms of your feet together. with your elbows, push slowly down on your knees. you will feelthe stretch in your inner thighs. hold a few seconds and release. these , and most, stretches give the long lean muscle look that girls prefer
3. there abduction and adduction, also. one is where you push away with your leg and works the outer thigh. this can be done with a fitness band around either your knees or ankles. the other is where you push in and is the concept behind the thigh master. this works the inner thighs and can be done with a firm ball or a thigh master, or a weght machine which is equipped for it. i forget which is which, but they both work.
as for the original question, walking most definitely works and is good for all your other body parts, too. the thing with walking is that you need to change it up occasionally, so that the muscles are challenged.
for other good workout tips, look into "the abs diet" book. they give quite a selection for all body parts

I think so. I'm petite, but my upper thighs are kind of big. Walk briskly for 1 hour or (to cut your time in half and increase effectiveness) run for 30 minutes and try to burn 300 calories. Even 2-3 times a week for this will give you results.

Yes it will help, and walking uphill will be even better. If you have access to a treadmill put it on a high incline-about 6. Cycling and squats are also good. Good luck!

I think that it will work. But just as much as it is important to excercise, you need to watch what you eat too. But yeah, walking would be a good idea =]

Nah. You need to stop eating carbs and start running or doing cardio. It worked for me.
