of saying (I believe) one Pater Noster in honour of st. John the Evangelist? If so, do you know the history behind it, and the promise attatched to it?

I think I read it in the book called "Prayers and Heavenly Promises" but I lost the book and I'm trying to remeber the devotion.

I don't, but if you have the time, look through the Catholic Encyclopedia:

No I have not heard of it. For those who do not now this is The Our Father, or Lord's Prayer.
If you cannot find it here good luck the book "Prayers and Heavenly Promises" is onsale cheap.

nope, never heard of it, and I have been Catholic all of my life.

I am only aware of this prayer:

Prayer to Saint John the Evangelist
O Glorious Saint John, you were so loved by Jesus that you merited to rest your head upon his breast, and to be left in his place as a son to Mary. Obtain for us an ardent love for Jesus and Mary. Let me be united with them now on earth and forever after in heaven.

It is an ancient prayer.

Any sort of organized prayer could be called a devotion, and you can construct and address one in any manner that you please. Just don't expect any results; there won't be any.
