Suppose a lot depends on the likes and dislikes of the people. I had a daughter married last year. Before leaving for the ceremony she gave me some lovely perfume. At the reception she presented me with a painting of an area that meant much to me when I was young and it was soooooooo much appreciated and hanging in my hall. Message is you think of the person and it will come to you what would be appropriate. It could be something simple that would please them such as a framed photo of their offspring as a child that they had never got round to framing to a spa day, a piece of jewellery, vouchers, theatre vouchers, meal vouchers whatever. Important thing is to give not what YOU want but what you know they will like.

Hon they don't need gifts... it's your occasion not theirs! I go along with everyone who suggested wedding pictures.. of course you were planning on giving them some anyway but that's really all they need or want :)
One thing you could do that won't cost you anything but will mean more to them than a gift... is to have both of you write them a letter. Tell your own mom what she's meant to you, and thank your mother-in-law to be for raising your spouse. You could give it to them when you leave the reception... they'll probably cry when they read it so better to not spoil their makeup earlier on :)

You can get them gift certificates fro massages then they can book them on their own time table. You can thank them for all their help and for stressing right along with you now here's a chance to go relax!

what i am planning on giving my parents and as well as my fiance giving to his parents is going to be a parents album and a DVD of our wedding ceremony/reception! in the parents album we will get to choose pictures that each would like and appreciate the most! it will obviously be after the wedding but we will be giving them a card on that day thanking them and letting them know how much we love and appreciate them and everything that they have done for us!!! and soo on! it really will not be exacely cheap but i know that they will love it for a memories keepsake!
