Why do guys send signals like they want something more, but say they only wants sex (which is not true if they hang out with you even when sex is not involved)?

Mixed signals? Four things come to mind:
1) He is not sure what he wants;
2) He is bored and has nothing better to do;
3) He read in a book somewhere that sending mixed signals is a good way to make a girl fall in love with you; or,
4) You are reading too much into what he is doing (over-analyzing).
The real question you should ask yourself is why are you hanging out with a guy who is confusing you, and who said that he is after only one thing, if what YOU really want is something more? You may have self-esteem issues, dear, if you are letting a guy use you for sex, when you obviously want a relationship. There are other guys out there who would like you.

HAAAA!!!! OMG, you are a funny, FUNNY girl! <:D You actually think it's the GUYS who give off the mixed signals?? This is funny, because if a guy flirts with you, he USUALLY wants to get closer to you! Women, conversely, often flirt just to play with guys' heads, or don't even know that they're giving out signals at all!

Poor "verbal" communication. They speak more with action. Joking - there is no such thing. Even if he tells you something jokingly it is his way of letting you know. Watch out for the signs is all. If you don't like that type of personality or character maybe you should move on.

Any confusion is you projecting female habits of thought and action on to him.
