Assuming the kidney receives 25% of the blood pumped by the heart in a person at rest, how would this mistransfusion event affect the tiny capillaries of the kidney???

Well since the person is blood type B, he has B antigen and has an anti-A antibody to attact the other blood group antigen. In blood grouping, ifyou have the antigen, you dont have the antibody for it,but if you don't have the antigen you have the antibody for it. For example I am type B. Therfore I have B antigen and Anti-A antibody to attact type A blood cells. Well When this interact, it agglutinates and trigger a lot more complicated system of the body. This will case the kidneys to shut down after or during the transfusion.

The recipient has antibodies to the type A blood which will agglutinate and break down the transfused RBCs. You will see fever, chills, perhaps shortness of breath and flushing with a drop in blood pressure as the products of cell breakdown are released into the circulation. Hemoglobin is released into the bloodstream and can clog the tubules of the kidneys and cause renal failure.

It depends on how much is received, if it is only a little, the antibodies will destroy the Type A blood, and the person will be ok, if it is a lot (say 1 liter), and the problem is not corrected the person will die, as the blood will be treated as a foreign invader
