I am a stay at home mom to a 4 month old baby. I am ready to go back to school and finish my degree at the university. In order to keep my federal grant, I have to take 2 classes a semester. I will be finished in 3 years if I only take 2 classes a semester.

I can't take online classes, but luckily the college is nearby and I can do my homework once my baby goes to sleep.I will go to school 2 nights a week and my husband will be at home with our child.

Is 2 classes a semester a lot when you are a stay at home mom?

Not when you have a supportive hubby. And it's alot better than trying to take three classes, two labs and work full time as a single mother. Been there, done that. Now I have a wonderful hubby and I'll finally finish in 1 1/2 years or less taking the three classes and (hopefully) only one lab. Though this time with four children (1 through 9). Congratulations on your new baby and for having the determination to finish your education!

I finished my degree while being a SAHM. I did 15 credits per semester (which was about 5 classes at a time), with 3 being on campus and 2 being online. I was fortunate that I was always able to do my on campus classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. My husband owns his own business so he was able to schedule work around my on campus days.

I think that you'll know best how much is right for you. But as you get into the upper division classes there's a lot less busy work so I thought that the actual time demands were less. You'll have a lot better idea after you do it for a semester whether its a pace you can continue with or if you'll need to do less or more for subsequent semesters.

I have been back in school since my second daughter was 5mths old. It takes little juggling, but I am able to get everything done in the evening. I have taken two classes easily, and I was up to three this last semester. My daughter just turned one, and I only have a year left. This last year will have to be entirely on campus, but my husband will be home with the girls. I plan to take a full load each semester this next year.

Good luck and way to go for wanting to get back in school.

Not at all. I am in the same boat as you. I take 2 classes during the week at night, work part time in the morning at an elementary school ( I am studying to be a teacher) and have two kids ages 7 and 2. Go for it!

I have been in school for the past 4 years getting all of my Gen Ed requirements done but I take all of my classes online. I take, on average, 3-4 classses a semester and I have 3 kids. It's not overloading me too much.

I worked full time at a hospital, went to nursing school 32 hours a week for a year, was three months pregnant when i graduated and had five children ranging from ages 2-12. had a very supportive husband none of my kids ever went to daycare. if you put your mind to it anything is possible. people seem to think kids need you most when they are babies. that is so untrue. i have twin teens and they need me now more than ever. so much peer pressure and bad influences around them daily in school. this is the time i need to be home watching over them constantly. i am so glad i finished school when i did. so hurry up b/c the worst part is yet to come.

I went to school full-time last semester. I took two on campus classes (Tues and Thurs) and two online classes. It was a lot, but like you I decided to do my homework while my son napped or was asleep in the evenings. It's doable. I know a lot of people at the local college who have children and go part-time or full-time. Go for it! :-)

That is about right. However, try to take only one that is hard and one that is easy for you.
