Since many GOD deniers are here, let's have a little excercise like George Bailey had in (It's a Wonderful life) A world without the GOD of the Holy Bible..(Hebrew Scriptures and New Testament)
How many people would live in PEACE with one another?
What kind of Governments would we have in the world?
What would keep people in line? A Police Government? would they give there money to charity? help the poor? if they did not give to charity would they be forced to?

Would people be more tolerant of othe people that were not like them? or again would they be forced to accept things deemed *right* by thier Governments?

Would people naturally have a loving heart? or would they be like the Animal Kingdom who survive by instinct
and apapt to there enviroments?

Since many of us believe the flesh is weak but the spirit is strong in Christ if they did not have the spirit of GOD what would prevent them from becoming just a burden to society?

Someone who absolutely NEEDS religion to be loving, tolerant, peaceful, or charitable isn't someone I'd call "moral" to begin with.

Seriously, that's a pretty depressing view of our race. Have we really reached a point where the ONLY motivation people have to do good things is an ancient religious text telling them to do it? You really don't think people would do those things with or without organized religion? That paints a pretty sad picture of our species if you're right.

There is no Yaweh.. if you're going to use the hebrew scriptures, then study your hebrew. The tetragrammaton is unpronounceable due to the loss of vowel marks and the fact that only the high priest could utter the name. Since the destruction of the temple, the high priesthood was wiped out The name is most likely Yahoo.

People would help one another because it's in their nature to do so.. Bill Gates runs one of the world's largest charities and he's an atheist.

Perhaps you should study your church history as well.. more wars have been started in the name of the monotheistic Abrahamic god than for all other reasons put together. And in the bible, that god orders his people to commit genocide on several occasions.

Let's see.. would we have had the convert or die mandate of the church which spawned the Inquisition in which all of the jewish people were forced to leave the country? Would we have had the crusades in which hundreds of thousands of people were slaughtered? How about the children's crusade? are you aware of how many thousands of children were killed in that church mandate?

In the animal kingdom, they don't murder one another like we do.. many mammals, reptiles and birds are very nurturing parents.. they kill for food or territory.. human beings are the only ones who kill each other (and other animals)for the fun of it.

What kind of governments would we have? I dunno.. let's look at the northern european nations like Sweden who are atheistic, at peace with all other nations, have national healthcare and very low crime.

If we got rid of your bible, your god and its horrors, we'd stand a much better chance of real peace and fulfillment.

Aint no God in my life.

I still donate my time and money to charities. I still live in peace - even with my fanatical religious neibors. The Golden Rule keeps me in line - the desire to do right to my fellow humans, in hopes they will do right to me. I am more tolerant than the average homophobic religious person. We are already forced to accept things deemed right by our Govts.

If God is the only thing that prevents you from becoming a burden on society and a criminal - by all means, please keep beleiving. There are enough people that profess to follow Christ incarcerated in our prisons. Please do not join them.

I think you are more than capable of doing your own research I do not need to do it for you. However, even if you saw hard facts it still would not change your mind because of your faith and that is your choice.

However, if you want an honest answer to those questions take a good hard look at the Netherlands which is a country that is mostly atheist and has a much lower crime rate than America.

A good honest society is capable without the worship of deities.

Are you kidding?

How do you explain that animals live quite well in societies without ever having heard of your god?
Just because you need a book and a preacher to tell you how to be a nice person doesn't mean everybody does.
Get over yourself...

Sweden seems to do just fine without religion. Why do you think "Christianity" is the moral compass of the world. Its NOT. Plenty of those so called Christians commit the vast majority of the crime in the US, so their faith sure doesn't seem to have an affect on their behavior.
You seem to give religion way too much credit.

Hmmm...consider the crusades and the inquisition where religion was in control - their outcomes suggest otherwise. Peace or tolerance aren't words you hear to describe those periods of history.

Without God, the world would be living in peace right now. Religion is the cause of most wars. Religion is the cause of most genocide.

You must be 12 years old....

Are you saying we have peace on earth because of the God in the Bible?

I'm an atheist; I don't need any gods to tell me not to hurt others; I do it because it's the right thing.

Do christians try not to hurt others only because their god said so?

Morality existed before your god was created.
