I'm a small person and have found very small clothes hard to find and usually more expensive (because in general, most quality "small" clothes are designer clothes)... I would agree that logically larger clothes should cost more... BUT... in a society where the average waist size is getting progressively larger, it ends up being more work and more uncommon to produce smaller sized clothes... when you look at cost-per-amount of material, you are actually paying MORE for the 32" waist pants (considering the amount of material in them) than for 52".
