After getting your lip pierced, there's a strong possibility your lip is going to swell a litte. Be prepared to explain why you've got a fat lip to your mom. Also, if you take it out and it's a fresh piercing, odds are that it's going to close up by the time you are able to put the piercing back in (I'm talking minutes here if it's totally fresh). Not to mention, you're going to increase the odds of an infection.

If you have to hide an expression of you, why are you even pursuing it? :)

Your mom will find out. Just because your friends do things like that doesn't mean you should. Keep in mind the possibility of infection or any complication in doing this. If you are so young that this is something you have to hide from your parents, then you are too young to do this.

I believe you can but you may have a slight problem with it. Your lip may get infected and you aren't supposed to remove the piercing until it is fully healed. I was lucky and when I did it my dad found out and weirdly enough he was OK with it! Please don't get a snake bite though. Everyone is getting them and they bother me so much! Also just a reminder to everyone answering... If you have bad things to say about getting your lips pierced then please don't answer at all!

Well I wouldn't keep taking it out and in because it may get irritated and besides it would be sore for a day or two after piercing. It will hurt a bit. Just get it pierced and face your mom. I got my rook and helix pierced a few times and my mom just grounded me for a week and cooled down.

taking it in & out constantly is going to put u at increased risk of infection, not to mention irritating the heck out of the area around the piercing...painful!!! plus, facial piercings tend to close very quickly, even if they have been pierced for some time, some in a matter of a few hours!!! one of my piercings closed after only 3 hours & it had been done months before!!!

It's not like the hole isn't noticeable when you have it out. I have had mine for about 6 yrs. You just really have to be careful about infection. Remember, it's still an open wound in your face. Keep your hands away from your face and be sure to constantly keep the puncture and your jewlery clean

No, that's a good way to get an infection, scar tissue and no piercing. Get permission or wait until you're old enough not to need it.

Most likely, they will find out. It will leave a hole and will probably be red and irritated for a few days. The hole may never close up completely. Do you really want a hole in your lip for the rest of your life?

That is a foolish idea. You should not hide anything from your parents unless you are no longer living at home. When your lip becomes infected they will find out.

I definitely don't advise it. A piercing should remain in until it's healed. Also, a new piercing that doesn't have jewelry in it is going to heal up quickly - what if you're around her for hours?
