I have a new pomerainian puppy. We have had her for about a month. She is a wonderful puppy. And also very adorable and sweet and innocent. When i ever take her on her leash to walk outside and go do her duty, she may do it most of the time. But sometimes, she will bite my ankles and growl while she is doing it. I think it is cute and so does my family. But when i pick her up to go inside, she Growls and bites my fingers or my face. Whenever she pees i don't slap her, don't actually "RUB" her nose in it, i show it to her and firmly say NO BAD GIRL. And lately when i do that she freaks out and bites my face or hands ? She has gotten the right shots and is perfectly healthy ? Why is she doing that ? What can i do to make her stop

Thanks,
Megan

well you were the one that encouraged her to bite in the first place and now your paying for it. you tought her that it's ok and now she things it's acceptable to do.

what you need to do is tell her in a FERM voice NO, BAD DOG!!! and then if she continues to do that the spray her with a little bit of water with a spray bottle. it helps. NEVER HIT YOUR DOG!!! it just makes them think that they are in danger and then they will try to protect herself by biting more.

good luck!

It won't be cute when she bites someone outside the family or a child which is what it will progress to if not halted. Any teeth on skin contact is not good. You need to go through some obedience classes and enforce dominance rules. You are the pack leader. You eat first, walk where you want (don't step over dog), sit where you want to sit (dog off the furniture til she learns manners). Make her do something for everything. Sit before being fed, down before putting least on for a walk, etc. Don't pet her when she demands it-call her to you to be petted. Hope it helps. Little dogs tend to get away with thinking they are human more than big dogs because we let them. Good luck!

Never, ever, ever scold a dog for going to the bathroom. You will just create a dog that thinks "going" is "bad" and she will hide to do it. Ignore the mistakes and praise her when she goes outside. She is growling and biting because you are scaring and confusing her by scolding her. Dogs can only be trained by patience and positive reinforcement. You are turning her into a nasty dog by confusing her as to what you want.

Megan how long is your leash maybe your too close to her when she is going? Also I have a 3 month old Jack Russell who loves to bite The vet told me to put her down and walk away when she bites. You have to break your pup now cause soon it won't be cute anymore. I keep an empty paper towel roll I DON"T hit her with it I hit my leg when she bites she doesn't like the noise. and I say no bite. It seems to be working.

You need to take yourself and your dog to puppy classes. You obviously do not understand dog behavior. You do not potty train a puppy by scolding it for its accidents. You praise good behavior and correct bad behavior, you don't scold for bad behavior. Now your dog has become aggressive because you think it cute. Biting and growling in any dog is never to be tolerated repeat, NEVER except in very advanced trained dogs where it is 100% controlled. You need to attend classes to teach you about dog behavior so that you will have an enjoyable pet.

Your dog is basically top dog!
You need to teach your dog boundaries, discipline etc.

You have all thought how cute it was & never put the dog in its place (do nit hit)

Now you all dont like it.

This dog needs to be trained. 15 mins a day building the training up.

If she does something it is not suppose to put it in check.
If need be train it with a lead in the house When taking out put on a lead & do not pick up. it has legs & needs to learn how to use them

Well I guess you don't think it's cute any more. Tell her NO in a stern voice. Spank her butt a little. She'll get the hint that she's being out of line.
