The fact is that the earth's temperature is always changing. Over the last 10,000 years or so, the temperature has been relatively stable, varying about 2 degrees C above and below the current temperature. See the attached link for a temperature reconstruction study using ice core data from both antarctica and greenland.
If you look at the study, you can see the constant temperature swings in antarctica. You can also see that antarctic temperatures were warmer than present just 400 years ago. If you look at the greenland temperatures, you'll see that greenland was warmer than present for MOST of the last 10,000 years. The warming observed over the last century followed several centuries of cooling. It is nothing to panic over.

The United Nations orchestrated the largest international cooperative research project in the history of humankind to discover whether global warming is happening. Thousands of scientists from dozens of countries contributed to the project, which concluded that humankind is affecting the planet's climate, and that the planet is warming.
Exxon funded "junk science" to make the truth about global warming look more like a "debate" than fact. Unfortunately, media coverage of global warming has been influenced by this. In an effort to be fair and balanced, media coverage about global warming counterposes information that is based on sound science and a consensus of the scientific community with viewpoints of a statistically insignificant portion of scientists, funded by petroleum companies, that incorrectly give the impression that the jury is still out.
Some great sources of research are available through the Sierra Club, the documentary "Out of Balance", the Department of Energy, and elsewhere.
People will undoubtedly try to convince you that there is no global warming, or that it is just a cycle that the earth goes though periodically. The truth is that there is no precident for what is happening now. The atmosphere is viewed as a garbage dump, and we hope that natural cycles will keep it clean. The atmosphere is only a few miles thick, and IS being affected by all the pollution we emit through burning fossil fuels.

I stay interior strolling distance of the Pacific Ocean, and that i've got lived right here whilst the alarmists/leftists have been proclaiming international cooling. Over 30 years in the past all of them started chanting international warming and expected that the place I stay could have a severe upward push in ocean stages, flooding lowlands, that would take place interior twenty 3 hundred and sixty 5 days or much less. That advance into 25 years in the past and that i'm nevertheless waiting. no longer something has replaced, no longer the sea point, no longer the water temperature. The state climatologist, George Taylor, uncovered the rip-off, and he's a real scientist, no longer a toddler-kisser. The state governor study Taylor's report, and fired him, or tried to. Taylor wasn't politically appropriate. additionally, I studied Earth technology in college as a minor. additionally, i'm no longer new to technology; i've got spent my stay working in technology and technologies. All my acquaintances are scientists or technologists. So, do no longer repeat Al Gore's lies to me. This climate replace hoax runs alongside leftist political strains, and that's fed via liars and morons. have self assurance it!

- Average global temp. Has risen by 0.6 degrees Celsius since 1900
- Northern hemisphere substantially warmer than any point in the past 1000 years
- 10 hottest years ever recorded occurred in the past 14 years.
-Hottest year ever: 2005
-If a milder climate is sustained in Canada, possibility that malaria and dengue fever could be introduced

-Eat less meat
-Reduce the number of miles you drive by walking, biking, carpooling or taking mass transit wherever possible
-Check your tires weekly to make sure they’re properly inflated
-Fly less
thats some information i collected from a recent project on climate change for school, i hope it helps but theres soooo much info on the internet and books in the library. go check it out.

The first fact you have is false. Global warming would actually slow down if we cut off all the trees in the world, because they give off water vapor which is another warming factor. However, rebuilding the rainforest would slow down global warming. I don't remember why exactly. Trees in the temperate regions won't help global warming due the water vapor factor. We need to save the rainforest more than just plant any old tree in any random garden.

Don't confuse conservation with "global Warming".
Conservation is recycling, reducing energy consumption, and being more environmentally friendly.
"Global warming" is a theory, at best, and junk science at it's worse. For every "fact" about this theory, there are at least 2 real counter arguments backed by real science.
Lookout for internet experts who claim to know it all.

Be careful with what you are calling a fact. "If everyone in the world plants a tree in their garden, it 'outdoes' global warming" sounds very fishy to me.

There are no useful facts. We only can peer into a short window of time for data. Sure, there are ways to look at CO2 levels from millenia past, but this is essentially useless. "Greenhouse gasses" oscillate naturally. It makes sense that they have increased since the industrial age, but I think it is pure speculation and propaganda to assume we are dooming ourselves at this time. Be certain of this: someone is trying to profit on our fears!

OK here I´ve got an average of 0.183 t carbon / tree
This means around 0.5 t CO2 offset per tree.
The emissions from capita in the US are: 20t / year.
This means that to offset their emissions, every US citizens would have to plant 40 trees per year, so 3200 over an estimated 80 years lifetime.

A good starting point is the An Inconvenient Truth website. Lots of information here, including the science behind the research. Much here for students and teachers. Others can recommend detractors' websites. Just make sure your sources are qualified experts.
