.Anyways here is some useful advice to do it all by yourself:

Be sure he likes you! If he doesn't you'll end up with one broken heart and turn Scarlet red due to shear embarrassment or, in some cases, rejection.
Ask his friends whether he likes different girls in your class(go down a list of girls to ask, e.g. Amanda, Laura, Magda, Phoebe etc.).
If you realize he may like you,slip hints(like a cook up a nice conversation on something simple, like homework on in a class), when you walk past him or when talking to him, brush against him 'accidentally'!
Further on, you need to give him a look. Hold the look for about 2 seconds,then look away. 3 seconds later repeat that step and then look at him 1 final time to see if he is looking back your way!
If you're sure he likes you, you can get a friend to tell him (preferably a friend who he has known for a while)
Be really nice to him and try to make something you bond over if he has a girlfriend stay away from him..
Start sitting next to him whenever you get the chance try to make something you two can bond over
Act confident around him.
Always believe him, unless it sounds kind of shady.
Don't try too hard... no guy likes a girl over-trying or desperate. Even if you are, play it 'cool-n-casual' and act laid back.
Tips
Don't always assume that a guy likes you.
If you tell him you like him and he doesn't respond in a manner you were hoping for him to have responded in, make a joke of it because if you do have a huge thing for this guy, you can still be friends.
Don't say "just kidding" or anything of that nature if he does not respond.
Know his birthday and get him something small.
Act comfortable around him!!
If you`re finally going to tell him you like him, break it to him gently. Start off with something that you know/think interests him, then start dropping hints.
If he doesn't get it, then maybe hes not the right one!
If you don't see any signs that he does, then feel free to take that risk and just tell him, just know that it may affect the friendship he thought you two had, but at least you'll know for sure.
Warnings
Don't seem obsessed with him in front of his friends (big no-no).
Sometimes you'll only go out once, and without actually breaking up, the relationship will fade off... usually caused by getting constantly teased.
If your friends don`t support you then they probably know something you don`t.
For older men and women: most men have no trouble letting a girl know that they like them, saving you the trouble of saying it first, just make sure he knows the feeling is mutual.

Yes, I do. If you have to ask, then he probably doesn't. You should be able to tell just by the hints he gives you. And of course, all your friends probably can tell to. It's hard to keep this kind of thing a secret for long.

Absolutely. Never do that. Not only does it look bad on your part, it also makes it near impossible for your guy to respond and act on it. Strike up a conversation with him and tell him yourself. Be brave and good luck :)

What happens if he wants to ask your friend out after you do this. Be careful doing that. Women can be very competitive when it comes to the opposite sex.

yes i do because i think that if you like the guy enough then you'll go tell him yourself.
so that means when you tell a friend you like a guy, they should'nt run off to tell the guy.

I would say it is ok if you are in grade school or Jr. high
not so much in high school
