they teach foul and disgusting versions of misguided concepts. forgive me is this offends but, they remind me of the KKK, another group that said they were Christians and were vile and disgusting - taking lives and spreading hatred & fear.

these "people" were coming here to Jacksonville to stand outside Bethel Baptist Church to protest a young Sailors death in Iraq. their signs say this wars is Gods revenge on homosexuality and such. this was a young man with a wonderful family, wife and two children - he died fighting for this country. thankfully the press got word and people were out in hundred force - including the Patroit gaurd and even out local firefighters brought their trucks - on thei own time - with huge falgs to be able to lower them in front of anyone who was disruptive. these people with their hate mongering were trying to impose their misguided beliefs on a family that was greiving the loss of the son, brother, uncle, husband, father and friend. i think what westboro doesn't realize is how much closer they are bringing people -- Christians and Patroits from every walk of life - race, creed, age, gender & sexual orientation - stood proudly together lining the entire length of the streets surrounding the church - so the family cound enter in peace - seeing the faces of those who believed in their son and their God.

They are evil.

You are much better off seeking out the Landover Baptist Church for spiritual guidance.

This church is a horrible church. They preach hate and condemnation, while Jesus came to save. Jesus didn't condemn anyone, and He loved the homosexuals and prostitutes. The Westboro Baptist Church may call themselves Christians, but they are nothing Christ-like. Please, most Christians aren't like that.

well they just did a thing about it on anderson cooper - among ating the gays, the troops in iraq (which btw the state of kansas recently outlawed them protesting the funerals of the fallen), they have also said we deserved the 9/11 attacks, but are under the impression they are about the only people that are getting into heaven. I could go on about this but am feeding my daughter atm.

I've never heard of it but going by the answers I've read, this looks like a church we can do without

I know they originated from Kansas, and hate gay people, soldiers and pretty much are anti-Islam, Buddhism, and Catolicism.

Also, they hate Canada and Sweden, because gay people are either given rights, or allowed to marry, in those countries.

Their leader was diagnosed with cancer I heard though..?

their website is godhatesfags.com

check it out.

it really isn't any different than most fundamentalists rhetoric...it is just that Westboro is more in your face about it and pickets at funerals, etc...

But, they are Baptists...they are fundamentalists...and they quote the same scriptures and say the same things that all fundies say...but, fundies try to distance themselves from them.

it is predominantly family members and extended family
70 or so i believe
they take the bible very literally and are still living in the past
they want to get rid of all " abominations " and will go out of their way to try
including flying to funerals of soldiers to picket , because they feel that those who fight for America ( given that America tolerates homosexuals ) must be gay them self

they are a sick bunch
