I want to lose weight(50 pounds) this summer so that I can start my senior year of high school off right. I've been overweight all my life and I've tried countless times to get on a diet and exercise and stick with it but it nevers last more than a couple weeks. This summer Im going to very busy, I may be working two jobs, and Im going to be taking drivers education too. I won't have much time for dieting and exercise but what else can I do to get this weight off and keep it off?

Go join WeightWachers. It's not a diet, but a way of life.

I concur regarding Weight Watchers; especially if you've been heavy all of your life, weight loss has to be about a lifestyle change, not just a diet. They can really help you figure out how to lose weight the healthy way. Also, as far as eating goes, packing a lunch and snacks for the day will help you avoid the tempting convenience of fast food. Avoid getting extra calories from drinks like soda; drink water instead. As far as exercise goes, finding something you enjoy doing is key. Do you like dancing? There are lots of 30-40 minute dance videos you could do at home that are a great work out. During the day, stay moving as much as you can. Always take the stairs. Walk to work if you can. Park further away if you do drive to work. Walk during part of your lunch break. Finding an exercise buddy can also really help you stay consistent.

I know this may be hard to take but in reading what you wrote it seems that you are not going to be fully committed to losing weight. You need to find your inspiration and stop defeating yourself before you start. Losing weight is not a quick fix and it is a lifetime commitment to exercise and eating healthy. Remember, you will succeed but you have to want it and be committed to the healthy way of losing weight (diet and exercise). Neither by itself will completely get you to where you need to be. I recently lost 30 lbs while working 16-18 hr days combined with 1-1 1/2 hour workouts. It was hard to fix my food every evening after my workout but I found my inspiration and stuck with it no matter what. (Yes, I did occassionally eat a cookie here and there. But I took it as yesterday was yesterday and today is a new day. ) The key I found was to eat a healthy mix of protein, fruit, vegetable, and milk products. I also drank lots of water; maybe 64 oz of water it helped with making me feel full and something I could do while working to keep me from pigging out when I finally got a break. I tried small milestones to reach in my workout schedule while working; for example, I had 45 minute lunch I ate first and then put on my walking shoes at walked with a coworker around the building while gossiping of course. I went to the gym after work to run and lift weights. (Muscle burns more calories.)

Sounds like you will be very busy! But I think you should start to analyze what you eat each day---try a food journal--write down EVERYTHING you eat and then look over it after the week is over and I'm sure you will come across some things that you can take out of your diet and then start adding in healther choices----if you wont have much time for exercise you should definetly be able to change your diet habits.
Take out refined sugar foods--cookies, crackers, white bread, etc--and add in whole grains--whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, brown rice--also eat lots of berries and other fruits (good for vitamins and fiber)
No soda...drink lots of water!
and do your best to add in a little exercise..since it will be the summer try to swim a little bit or take some short walks when you get a free chance.
Its a tough battle---but once you start seeing some changes you will feel great!

first of all, wanting to lose weight is great but dont do it for dumb reasons like because of what society says, someone tells you, family whatever. you have to make the decision ultimately for yourself, and for your health. wanting to have a "nice shape" comes later.

this isnt a diet thing, losing weight and keeping it off are two different things. you can lose the weight in an unhealthy manner then just gain it all back. the best thing to do is a lifestyle change meaning you look at food differently, and your relationship that you have with it. being overweight myself i understand the difficulty that comes with that, noticing that you have a bad relationship with food and eat because of stress whathave you.

diet just means what you eat, exercise can happen inbetween work or early mornings, late nights. indoors out doors, any time. making excuses and putting it off will only lead to other problems. try cooking more healthy foods, they can still be good but limiting fastfood intake will show a decrease in weight really fast.

the reason a diet and exercise dont stick because you are saying no to all the foods you like, just try to balance things out. if you want take out then maybe 2-3 times a month instead of every weekend. cook more often at home. try different things to exercise then a video, or treadmill, like a walk, basketball, swimming, or classes at a nearby park to keep you interested in going.

and if you can, get a friend to do it with you! it helps having someone there going through the same thing, you can encourage each other on the days you dont feel like doing anything or breaking rules or being lazy. a nice place too is Curves its just for women if you want to go a gym type place, ive got a friend that works there so you might like it.

good luck.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

If you live near your possible jobs, you can walk or ride a bike to work, or even walk / ride to driver's ed

Try to cut back on sweets and junk food, especially since you are going to be busy.

Maybe you could walk or bike to and from work? And/or do exercise tapes either early in the morning or when you get home from work?

Good luck with whatever you end up doing!
