My right knee rarely bothers me except right before I get my period. Does an increase in water retention cause this? If so, why is only my right knee affected?

fluid buildup can go into various parts of the body. Like in your case it's only your right knee. For another person it might be their left Foot. There's no explaining swelling. A natural diuretic is cranberry juice. Start drinking this a few days before the time you would normally have pain. Drink at least two large glasses daily. You may see a change in your knee using this.

It can be fluid but it can also be that you have an imbalance in your hip muscles that gets aggravated with the extra tension you get in your pelvis during your period. If reducing the water retention does not work. find a posture alignment specialist at Egoscue.com and get a routine to balance your hips
