Get a job and tell them you'd like one and you'd be willing to pay half if they can pay half. Parents LOVE responsibility. If not keep the job and buy it yourself.

Get an A in each of your classes. Get a summer job or do community service every day this summer. Do lots of chores around the house without them asking. Walk the dog. Wash their cars.
If your parents won't let you save money, they are crazy. You need to learn the responsibility of saving money, or else you will probably not be very successful in life. Tell them why they should let you save money. Open a savings account for yourself.

Ask them. See if there is something around the house that you can do to earn the Playstation 2. If you were going for a PS3, I would say you are crazy, those things are just too expensive. Mow the lawn, ask for a chore list. If they will give a little, you should too. That is how I would handle it if my kids asked for something like that.

Trying doing what they say without the need of being rewarded and straight out ask them. If htey say no there is a reason accept it and tell them thank you for caring so much. Then pick something else.

You should pay for it, or at least half of it. Work it off, by chores or cutting grass or something.
