The Bible never specifically mentions masturbation or states whether masturbation is a sin. There is no question, however, as to whether the actions that lead to masturbation are sinful. Masturbation is the end result of lustful thoughts, sexual stimulation, and/or pornographic images. It is these problems that need to be dealt with. If the sins of lust and pornography are forsaken and overcome - the problem of masturbation will become a non-issue.

The Bible tells us to avoid even the appearance of sexual immorality (Ephesians 5:3). I do not see how masturbating can pass that particular test. Sometimes a good test for whether something is a sin or not is whether you would be proud to tell others what you had just done. If it is something you would be embarrassed or ashamed about if others found out, it is very likely that it is a sin. Another good test is to determine whether we can honestly, in good conscience, ask God to bless and use the particular activity for His own good purposes. I do not think masturbation qualifies as something we can be "proud" of or can genuinely thank God for.

The Bible teaches us, "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31). If there is room for doubt as to whether it pleases God, then it is best to give it up. There is definitely room for doubt in regards to masturbation. "For whatsoever is not of faith is sin" (Romans 14:23). I do not see how, according to the Bible, masturbation could be considered glorifying to God. Further, we need to remember that our bodies, as well as our souls, have been redeemed and belong to God. "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). This great truth should have a real bearing on what we do and where we go with our bodies. So, in light of these principles, I would definitely have to say that masturbation is a sin according to the Bible. I do not believe that masturbation is pleasing to God, avoids the appearance of immorality, or passes the test of God having ownership over our bodies.

There is debate on that. I think I'll win the debate because I'm a master-debater. My girlfriend says I'm a cunning linguist, too.

:-)

By the way, if God didn't want us to do that, why would he make our arms long enough to reach their? I mean, the dog can.... and look what he does! Notice that God didn't make us like the dog -- He knew full well no male would leave the house if he did. :-)

Don't worry about it dude. Even if it is a sin, everyone sins. Accept Jesus and live the best life you can. Do what you think is right, and ask God to show you the Way, the Truth and the Light. Don't let anybody judge you, except God. Even if you're not sure he's there, you can always throw yourself on his mercy.

It's o.k. not to be sure about God or if you know for sure what he wants you to do. Seek... and ye shall find, implies that while we seek we have not yet found. God must know that there will be time between the seeking and the finding. I expect the seeking is more important than the finding. If you seek, then your heart is likely in the right place.

it fairly is considered a sin by applying some branches of Christianity, i think of. the only bible reference that i understand of is the case of Omar in Genesis. i don't understand what verse, sorry. He have been given in worry with God because of the fact God informed Him to get his spouse pregnant and quite he masturbated and "spilled his seed upon the floor." some human beings understand this tale to intend do not masturbate. Others say, no Omar's sin became into disobedience.

Not exactly. God considers it a sin to lust, but just the physical act of masturbation is not a sin. Since most men fantasize when they masturbate, it becomes sin due to the lust involved.

Wow! Why would He (or She?)? Who does that hurt? Everyone needs a little relief some time. If not, there is always "wet dreams", I guess. But be warned, cold showers is not an effective preventive of sexual desires; it actually stimulates the body, as do hot one. Luke warm baths can be somewhat relaxing.

Technically it probably is healthy, but since the Bible says lust is a sin, masturbating is usually considered sinful among Christians.

Stop believing in a sky fairy and your question will be a moot point at best. And yes, it is natural. I don't know about healthy, but judging from the tendencies of sexually-deprived pederast priests, I suppose it has some mental health benefits too.

Biblically, yes. Your body is a temple for the Holy Spirit, and any sexual immorality is a sin against it, either physical or just in thought.

Yes, it's a sin. That's why every town has an Easy Linda who lives down the street to take care of lads like you.

Anyone who claims to speak for God is someone you should be far more afraid of in contrast to the wrath of God.

Live your life the best you can, and do what you think is right, all the while treating others as you'd like to be treated.

That's my code. My religion (or lack of) doesn't dictate who I am as a person.
