Well, if he's in jail, there's not much you have to worry about. Just tell him that since the relationship is so damaging to both of you, it's best if you break up. Tell that he isn't to call, write, or visit you once he is released. Don't go into blame or recriminations when you talk with him... just be glad it's over and let it go.
If you feel worried, see if you can find out who his lawyer or parole officer is, or the district attorney or judge who handled his case. Let them know that you have broken up with him, but you're concerned that he may try to hurt you or harass you once he is released. He can be reminded to stay away from you... and if he does harass you, you will already have started a paper trail and can quickly get a formal restraining order. Let your friends and family know that you don't want to see him, and they should not let him near you. Block his number from your cell phone, or better yet, change your number.

The best thing to do is file a restraining order and if he violates it, he goes back to jail, simple as that. He's already a loser for being abusive and now that he's in jail anyway doesn't help his situation. File while he's in jail; you're safter that way, and there won't be any reprocussion.

Abuse does not equal love. No one should have to go through that either!! There is a world full of decent men out there who know how to treat a lady like a queen! I say leave his sorry butt and move on. If worse comes to worse, get a restraining order!!

Get out of this realionship as fast as you can. If you don't get out of this he WILL either get violent or convince you that you are worthless and your anything but that. If you are afraid he may find you when he leaves prison ask the witness protection program for help. Remember no one deserves to be treated this way, good luck.

Find some self respect for starters....than you wont have a problem walking out on him. If you hate his guts and you wish something bad would happen to him, why are you here asking us what to do?

You should avoid all contact with him. Let him know its over between the two you. If need be get a restraining order against him. Things will get only worse between the two of you, if you continue to stay with him. Its unhealthy , he will only bring you down, and ask yourself what are you going to do if his verbal abuse leads to physical abuse.

This should be easy. Leave him, stay away from him, don't contact him. If he attemps to contact you, don't reply. If he starts showing up around you, stalking you, threatening you, etc, see about getting a restraining order. Under no circumstances should you put up with such behaviour.
