I asked this question a long time ago about too much online information getting into enemy hands.
If this pattern continues will Yahoo Answers users be banned from discussing the military and terrorism? Why or why not?

It is possible that Y!A will be more closely monitored and that those types of questions will be blocked or removed.

People seem to forget that we are fighting a war, that there are people here in the US and all over the world who would not only like to see us lose that war, but would like to help more terrorists harm our country from within.

It's a job - you shouldn't be jacking around on those sites at work. In off-work hours, there are people who want to do more useful things online than MySpace or YouTube. Other activities should get priority. I can see some security risks, but mostly I would say that there isn't enough internet time available for people to jack around on those sites, especially in Iraq. Besides, military personnel should be old enough to not be using some kiddie site like MySpace.

I was thinking more along the lines of actual time that people have available to use the limited computers, but bandwidth is also a huge issue. Cutting those two sites cuts huge bandwidth usage.

They can't access myspace on computers used for government use, however, they can access myspace and other sites over seas on computers ran by places like the USO. I am in the miltary and have 2 friends in Iraq, 1 in Kuwait, 1 in the horn of Africa, 2 in Cuba and several in Bahrain, including my husband. All of which I have kept in contact with via email, instant messnager and myspace. Thay just can not access these sites on government computers, because those computers are for work purposes and not for personal use.

THE MAIN REASON WHY WE ARE BARRED FROM MY SPACE IS THAT YOU CAN POST STUFF ON THERE AND ITS NOT TRACEABLE. WHEN WE SEND OUT EMAILS THEY ARE SCANNED FOR INFORMATION THAT IS NOT TO BE TOLD. BUT ON MYSPACE, AND IMS AND SUCH THERE IS NO WAY TO KEEP AN EYE ON THAT TYPE OF INFO. SO INSTEAD THEY ARE JUST BLOCKED WEB SITES. ITS ALL ABOUT SECURITY. AND ACTUALLY ANY SITE THAT YOU CAN POST STUFF ON LIKE YAHOO ANSWERS, MY SPACE AND SUCH IS OFF LIMITS ON GOVERMENT COMPUTERS...

It is another gag order from Bush, since the Military isn't siding up with his policies. The most hilarious thing will be that the fake military profilers here on Yahoo will still keep posting their spam. I would save this link, as I will when the imposter's do post up their lies, show them the link.

Reading comprehension trouble? The article states, "recreational traffic impacts."

Waa, waa, waa! When I was deployed for Desert Storm, I had no computer at all. Computers are a luxury, not a right.

One word: Bandwidth.

You have tens of thousands of troops using a finite amount of capacity. MySpace and the other multimedia websites are a massive burden on bandwidth.

No one is prevented from using alternative ISP resources. And e-mail access should be unrestricted.

can you say...isolation from information. if it were enforcement, bandwidth, or a thousand other excuses, it would have already been taken care of. the bottom line is...a policy to keep questioning to a minimum.
