I wan't to lose 30lbs in three months for my wedding day. What kind of foods should I eat during the day to help? Fruits and veggies? Whole grain and lean meats? I know I should stay around 1,200 calories total to keep from going into starvation mode..how do I know how many calories I'm really eating?

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Yes it will help you. Optimal number of meals would actually be 8 but 6 would do. You could get into a highly scientific answer but it has to do with your body secreting insulin.

Stay away from:
White Bread
Drinks other then milk orange juice and water
Junk foods.

To know how many calories you are eating read the nutrition facts on the side of the box. To lose weight faster it is not just a good thing to eat less. That will slow down your digestive system so that when you do eat a lot you will gain weight fast. Get a lot of exercise.

Hope I helped.

YOU CALCULATE CALORIES by multiplying whatever is on the package by how many servings you have, every food has their own serving sizes like on a pop a serving size is 10oz and their are 2 servings in that container so if the bottle says one serving is 200 calories and you drink the whole bottle you just consumed 400 calories.
THIS DIET HAS WORKED FOR ME AND MY ENTIRE FAMILY.
immediately cut your calorie intake to no more than 1500 calories per day. eat 3 meals per day each no more than 300 calories per meal and eat 3 snacks per day in between those meals not to exceed 180 calories per snack. A good way to monitor calorie intake is to pick a food and only eat the serving size of the food. For example cereal might have 280 calories in it but that is 280 calories in the serving size of 3/4 of a cup so you can eat 3/4 of a cup of cereal. Dont forget the milk you add alos has calories. Watch your drinks too, pop and juices have lots of calories. Things high in sugar are loaded with calories. And one last thing, no eating after 7:30 at night. I used this diet to join the USMC. I lost 20 pounds in about 5-6 weeks. I also lost another 10 in a week but that was some unhealthy way where I passed out and I am not going to go into further detail about that. Losing weight quickly is dangerous and the faster you lose it the easier it is to gain it back. Be wary of diet pills they dont do anything.

First off, your body will tell you when you are hungry. Don't eat when you are board. Second-get pently of water. You will be amazed when you start drinking AT LEAST 80 oz of water a day. My skin was so soft when I drank that much! And I lost weight!

Fish is a good meat to eat-Salmon about 2-3 times a week. Stay away from shirmp and other shell fish. Too much cholesterol. "Skinny" people can have very high cholesterol levels. You should get those levels (HDL and LDL) checked at least once a year.

Eat whole grains, fruit and veggies every day! It is a must! You will not only lose weight-but many other health risks will start to fade away. You may also want to get on a woman's multivitamin.

Try not to be soo concerned about the weight. If you notice that you are putting your jeans on and they become loose in 3 or 4 weeks-you are getting fit and that is what you want! You don't want to lose your muscle. Get a tape measure and measure your hits and waist to see if your are losing inches!

I'm not sure how old you are-but once you turn 30-women start to lose muscle and it is very important to keep up the exersice so you don't lose your muscle!

I would advise you not to eat red meat and if you do-eat them once in a while.

The best exersices that I did was on my back-I did leg exersices for two years. I toned up my legs, stomach and butt. I went from a size 14 to a size 9 in one year and then from 9 to 7 the second year. Walking was my second exercise.

30 pounds is not that much. If you are in your 30's it may take a little longer time to lose the weight you want-since motabolism slows once in your 30's.

Counting calories is fine-but don't get upset if you go over the 1,200 limit. It all depends on your height and age. Focus on your BMI instead! Eating too much starchy foods (pasta) will turn into sugar in the body. Limit your intake of pasta and replace it while whole grains.

Oatmeal is wonderful and it makes people feel full. (Fiber in general makes people feel full and fiber is a another great way to lose weight).

Be careful not to drink too much of the fruit juices and orange juice. Too much can also make you gain weight since juice is high in sugar. Stick to powerade...(or gatorade if you can stand the saltiness in it.)

I hope this helps. Happy wedding!

Actually I do this and it does really help, I don't find that I get hungry and Im able to recognize when to stop eating easier. I plan my day by grabbing several 200 to 300 calorie snacks to eat througout the day. Several diets use this and its really simple. It keeps your metabolism at a steady pace. Along with doing this try to not eat 3 hours before you go to bed, and drink plenty of water. I also try to keep with organic fruits and vegatables and if your eating bread or pasta stick with whole wheat because its a complex carb and does not immediately get absorbed as energy because it has to be broken down. (It's also more filling)
Here would be a typical day for me....

Morning... Bowl of cereal, sweetened with honey + nonfat milk (270 Calories) sometimes I eat an apple or a banana also

+ 2 hours - Morning Snack Yogurt (100 calories)and Piece of string cheese (40 to 80 calories) (maybe an apple depending on if I had one for breakfast) (90 calories)

+ 2 hours - Low calorie meal (around 300 calories) usually Smart ones, Healthy choice or a salad

+ 2 hours - Yogurt, possibly fruit or a protien shake

+ 2 hours - try to keep it low calorie Turker burgers can actually be pretty good... just try to keep every meal between 200 and 300 calories.....

I usually do about 5 meals a day.

Lots of diets/programs use this principal and you can combine it with programs that don't to get even better results. If you would like to research diets more and what doctors are saying about this try going to www.webmd.com and search for diets (you will see hundreds of them listed and reviewed)

I don't think so. I assume you are currently eating 3 meals a day. Changing to 6 meals a day is such a change in your routine that you will end up hungrier, more resentful, and the diet will break.

You would be better off making the three meals you currently eat more healthy. If you still find yourself hungry between meals, try adding more rice, bread, pasta or potatoes to your meals (not fried, covered in cheese, or prepared in butter though!)

It will help to boost your metabolism. Pair that with exercise and you're on your way to weight loss.

You want to try to limit you intake of grains. Eat only very small portions of them. Grains are packed with carbohydrates and our body loves to use them as energy and since they are slow burning a little goes a long way.

Having six small meals will assure that you are never "running on empty". Just read lables, do a little research on food databases and you should have no problem working out the approximate amount of calories you're eating.

I think that when nutritionists tell people to eat a lot of meals, as long you have them in small portions, they are misleading the people that want to lose weight.
Can you see that 6 is toooo much?
I`m not an expert but i can tell you this:
Eat when you are really hungry. Some people go to the fridge anytime they feel down, stressed, and sad..
If you keep yourself busy, and motivated, with interesting things in life you won`t feel hungry. And EXERCISEEEEEEE

Yes, six meals will work just fine. Eat fruits, veggies, lean meats. If you want to lose 30lbs in 3 months you will need to have a strict workout plan so you will need to make sure you get enough good calories in your body so you will have enough energy to workout and lose those pounds. Don't starve yourself. Six small, healthy meals will work just fine. I hope you live happily ever after. Take care.

That's a crapload of weight and a short time to lose it. You should hook up with a Keto diet; basically avoid carbs and stick to protein and good sources of fat. Good sources of fat come from fish, olive oil, sesame oil, anything with a low saturated fat content. For every 14 days, you should limit carbs to trace amounts for 12 of those days (consecutively). During your 2 day carb up, stick to low GI carbs (avoid sugar and anything white like white potato's, white bread, etc.). If you do a lot of cardio (best when you wake, before a meal) you might be able to pull of 30 Lbs in 3 months and keep most of it off.
