What does a guy means when he says that he doesn't have a gf because 1) he's too picky, 2) he likes his independence too much and 3) he doesn't want to sell himself short? Please help here! Thank you!

ok, my "friend" and I hang out a lot, and I have feelings for him. During one of our casual conversations, I asked him "How come you don't have a gf?" and that was what he answered. But HE still calls and emails me almost everyday, has nicknames for me, and everybody thinks that we are dating.

If he said this to YOU, then it means that he is trying to say in a nice way that is not interested in dating you.

Ah, he doesn't want you to think that he is a weirdo for not having a gf for so long. He wants you to understand that you are "special" -- that is why that he is pursuing YOU (he doesn't just go after anyone).

Hmmm well you've heard of that saying 'he used to be indicisive and now he's not so sure'?
Seriously i would say that 1)decodes to-he likes nice women who must have certain things ,they have to live up to his expectations(or dreams)
2)decodes to-he likes to do has he pleases when he pleases,does'nt want a women or anyone who tells him where to go,for how long and when he has to be back
3)im not sure how to decode this one although first thing that came into my head is if he met a women she would have certain crudentials that he expects,nothing less will do for him....basically he wants some gal who is going to make him proud,someone he's proud to be seen with,although i could be totally wrong
men sometimes hey! i guess a positive way of looking at this is at least he is being honest with you in telling you his expectations

It means he only wants a perfect girl, and he won't date anybody just for the sake of dating someone (because he had nobody else). He finds anybody less to be a waste of time. He'd rather be lonely or alone than pick someone who isn't perfect. My roommate is like that and he hasn't had a relationship in 10 years (he's 31 years old btw)... Because as he gets older, more and more perfect women disappear.

Means that the person is very "choisy" lol. He would rather sleep with a girl one day and then go on dates. 2. He does not want to answer all the QUESTION that girl has in store for him. 3. he does not want to be hanged to death by his girl because one she is his GF, he is gonna have to explain every thing to her. It means pretty much what he says. He's really not ready to have a girlfriend... he just wants to have fun and hook up with lots of girls because he faces the commitment of a real relationship. He's young and not ready for a mature relationship yet.
Don't waste time with this guy, move on.

It means that he's looking for a woman with the brains of Jodi Foster, the body of Angelina Jolie, and the bank account of Paris Hilton. It means that he is looking for the imaginary woman, doesn't care for the woman's feelings ("likes his independence") and thinks he's too good for most girls ("sell himself short"). He's an egomaniac who will probably only use you for your body. Stay away.

1) He cant find a girl that meets his standards. 2) He likes to be able to do what he wants when he wants to including be with anygirl any time. 3) He is pig headed and thinks he is too good for any one... If someone said this to yo then I think he is an arrogant asshole and you deserve better.

It probably means that he is a bit insecure when it comes to dating but is trying to convince himself and others that he doesn't date much by choice.
