Friend, Religion is NOT the ANSWER to the Problem of Sin. Sin keeps us from God. God is Perfect & cannot live with Sin. So our Sin Separates Us from God. But God in His Infinite Love for mankind was not willing that we should be Permanently Separated from Him so He sent His Son, Jesus Christ as a Substitutionary Sacrifice for Us. Christ paid the price for sin 2000 years ago for ALL Mankind. He also told Us how to get to Heaven by simply Believing on Him & accepting the work He did in forgiving our Sins. It's that Simple & just that Hard for some! They always want to feel Sorry or give something Bad up or do some other Work to Earn Salvation! And there are MANY RELIGIONS out there that are willing to Devour a person with this mindset! Think about this. What "Work" can U or any Mortal Man or Mortal Organized Religion do that is Greater than Christs' Perfect Sacrifice once & for ALL Mankind??? U don't need a Religion, just Christ!!! John

Great question. However, the real point is "How do I get to Heaven?" Many will say that doing good works, keep the commandments, and go to church and you will go to heaven. This is very wrong. To put it bluntly, the bottom line is found in Revelation 20:15 that says that anyone that’s name is not written in the Lambs Book of Life will be thrown into the lake of fire. Wow, that’s pretty selective don’t you think. Well then, now the question is “How do I get in this book that God keeps known as the Lambs Book of Life?”

Before Jesus came into the world, we know from Exodus 32, that God said to Moses that it is sin that keeps your name out of the Book of Life. However, from the old testament, Psalm 130, says that there is forgiveness of sin. So, the people in those days needed to repent and provide a burnt offering (which is a blood sacrifice) for forgiveness of their sins.

Jesus came with a “New Covenant”. (Matthew 26:28, Luke 22:20, 2 Corinthians 3:14). This new covenant is for ALL sin for ALL time. Jesus (the perfect sinless son of God), shed blood on the cross as a blood sacrifice to cover all sin (1 John 2:2, Hebrews 10:16-20).

That’s great but what’s the catch, Matthew 7:14, says “But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.?”

Well, that’s right, only a few will find it. The catch is:

John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

1 Thessalonians 5:9, For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

OK, what does it mean. “Believe”, “Salvation”?

This salvation is a gift. No one will force you to take it. You only need to repent and ask for forgiveness of your sins. Romans 10:9, That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

So, the answer to your question is not religion at all, it’s a relationship with Jesus Christ that gets you into heaven.

Many people believe in very different religions. Some people believe in re-encarnation; others believe that we evolved from monkey's, but very few have an actual explanation of how they will get you to heaven.
For me, the only religion that answers my questions, is Christianity. God created everything-right down to people. But when we sinned in the Garden of Eden, we separated ourselves from him and joined the side of satan by listening to him. The only way that God could be reunited with us, was if he sent his son, Jesus to break the hold of domination that satan had over us. In the Bible, Jesus said that whoever believes in him, will have everlasting life in his Kingdom of Heaven forever. There is also evidence that supports what is said in the Bible. Noah's Arc, which is mentioned in the Bible as what was used to keep mankind alive when the world was flooded, was found is some mountains in Kentucky. There are several other sources of evidence which prove the Bibles accuracy. So while evolution might be the most widely accepted explanation of creation, their "missing links" outweigh there explanations.
If I had to bet my life on a religion being true, (and if you want to go to heaven you pretty much have to bet your life) I would go with Christianity.
Hope this helped =)

Just have a personal relationship w/ God, read your Bible and learn about him, that's all he is asking any of us to do. You are already on the right path by not having a denomination. If you can find a fellowship, that is a group of people that gather together and read the Bible together and discuss open mindedly about all the scriptures it helps a lot. Fellowship is really easy, no dues, no rules, it's not a religion it's a group of people w/ the same belief in the Lord and all he has done for us.

I don't believe that you are going to get an honest answer to that question by simply asking a vast community of internet users representing a wide variety of faiths (or lack thereof.) The best thing to do is simply start studying for yourself, and then ask God directly.

After saying that, it may seem odd that I would refer you to a Christian text (the Bible,) when I point you to the New Testament, James 1:5, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."

First, we haven't even established that Christianity may be the correct religion, and yet, I'm pointing you to a Christian text... However, I believe there is true logic there: If there is a God who is an omniscient, omnipotent being, then it only makes sense that he would prepare a way for you to receive an answer to your most important questions.

So, search, ponder, and ask God through prayer. I would rely on that approach more than I would on the random comments of us Y!A lurkers.

Let me put it to you this way: Live life as best as you can. Try to help those in need in whatever way you can. Smile and wave to neighbors as you see them. Open the door for people. Do absolutely everything in your power to increase your knowledge, and teach your children to think for themselves. In essence, do what makes you happy without hurting anyone else.

If that doesn't make God happy, then you don't deserve each other. It's better to live honestly than to brown nose an entity no one can seem to agree on. And you should never have to fear someone or something that loves you, regardless of what the pretentious man in the funny bathrobe tells you.

First off-that would be Christian. Second of all- you shouldn't just join a religion to go to Heaven. To be a Christian, you have to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. He died for your sins, so that you wouldn't have to. He loves you! He wants to have a personal relationship with you! All you have to do is accept Him as your Savior!

Btw: In order to be a Christian, you have to fully pledge your life to God and live for Him.

Btw2: If you want to understand it better, talk to a pastor from a local church!

This is really one of the most ridiculous things that I have ever heard in my entire life, but if you ask me, you should convert yourself into Christianity. Although there will be a chance that God will not accept you, for you only want to go to heaven and you don't really ''know'' the real thing about the religion. Just be who you are now. Any new members are welcome! God would really appreciate it, but you should read the Bible first, I think. Go to a local church... and then see what happens.

Who cares? Be any religion you want, or practice no religion at all. Different religions and cultures all have different perceptions of what heaven is and what it takes to go there. Above all, look within yourself for the answer. This forum has tons of religious fanatics on it who will tell you that it's either their way or the highway.
