Are there any good resources on professional cycling teams out there on the web? Just curious as to whom the top contenders are and how the whole cycling system works.

Thanks in advance.

There are 20 Pro Teams this year. Some great cycling sites:
www.cyclingnews.com
www.velonews.com
www.procycling.com
www.cycling.tv (video feed of races)
www.thepaceline.com (Team Discovery)

Most of the Pro Cycling teams are in Italy for the Giro d'Italia - 1 of three Grand Tours.

Also, there are continental pro teams. In the US, there is Jelly Belly, BMX, Kodak Gallery, Healthnet, Navigators, SutterHome, etc....These teams race locally, but can be invited to Pro Tour races. Team Slipstream Powered by Chipotle just raced in Europe.
There is the U23 which is for riders 23 and under. They are invited to races as well. They have their own championship races, too.
For an overall cycling website, try the official UCI site:
http://62.50.72.82/home.asp
This includes road racing, BMX, cyclocross - it has it all.
For daily news and race coverage cyclingnews.com is a good one. I check that several times a day. Good pictures, too.
Have fun!
Vive le Tour!
