I can't say that there is enough evidence one way or the other. I haven't seen enough evidence to suggest that we are positively causing global warming. We can't even predict the weather tomorrow with certainty, and I find it hard to believe that man can cause this much damage to the entire planet in about 100 years.
If you ask the global warming supporters, they always say "a majority of scientists" say it's so, so it must be so. Well. last time I checked, science wasn't decided by a majority.
I don't want to jump to conclusions, but the person doing the most to convince people of our doom is the same person trying to get you to buy these carbon offset credit things, and he also happens to own the company that is selling them. I think there is still reason to be skeptical.

It's not baloney. Visit a few websites and see how the greenhouse effect works (Wikipedia will have something I'm sure). It's actually a very simple physical property of our atmosphere that leads to global warming. It can only be dismissed if the simple physics that cause it aren't understood.
If global warming didn't exist the planet would never have warmed up or cooled down, there wouldn't have been any ice ages and Earth would be totally uninhabitable.
As for is it normal - to an extent yes it is, the world is in a warming up phase of it's own and has been for 18,000 years. The difference now is that greenhouse gas levels are the highest they've been since manking first appeared on the planet and that temperatures are rising far faster than anything that's ever before been known - far too fast to be attributable to any natural cycle. Some people will say it's part of a natural cycle, this just shows that they know very little, if anything, about the natural cycles.
GW has been around for a long time - it was first considered in 1811 and scientifically proven in 1896. For more than 50 years scientists have been sounding warnings but these fell on deaf ears. It's only since it became a political issue that the mainstream public have begun the hear of global warming.
It's not a money grab. Lots of people keep saying this and I've repeatedly challenged them to come up with the names of people who are making more money out of GW than out of other things they would be doing instead, no names have been forthcoming.
Once you study GW - not the nonsense that's littering the internet but the actual facts - then you'll know that it really is a very simple underlying principle that's causing it.

An answer to the post made by MC.
Regarding thetemperature/CO2 corrolation.
The temperature Has in the past (historically) gone up Before a registered increase of CO2. But this time we see a distinct corrolation between the two. The oceans store the vaste majority of CO2 but additional CO2 in the atmosphere will warm the oceans and make them release that CO2.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming
Check the corrolation between the temperature graph, and CO2 level graph since 1960.
Regarding the amount of CO2 released by humans/other sources.
It is true that human activities only stand for a small part of the total amount of CO2 released. The point is that the CO2 released and the CO2 absorbed have balanced eachother out. Now, the additional CO2 from humans is released so fast that te oceans, plants ec. can't absorb it quick enough, thus the increase in atmospheric CO2-levels.
Regarding troposphere temperature.
CO2 is present in the troposphere but the warming isn't actually created there. As sunlight reaches the ground it causes heating. The warm gound emits radiation into the atmosphere which is sent back by the green house gases so the energy from the sun does not stay in the troposphere.
Regarding the sun's influence.
The sun Is beleived to help contribute to global warming, but in a much smaller way then the green house gases.
Regarding heating on other planets/satellits.
4 other planets/satellites in our solar system (out of well over a hundred) are giving of signals that they MIGHT be warming.
If it was due to heating from the sun wouldn't ALL terrestrial bodies show the same signs?

About the glaciars NOT melting ..
http://www.nasa.gov/worldbook/global_warming_worldbook.html ..Please notice that this is NASA's site.
Of course, global warming is a theory. But to say that there is money in making such a claim?Surely, the link between oil companies and the refusal to accept global warming is a much more obvious one?

Your very question assumes that global warming is either made-up or it is natural, discounting the possibility (or likelihood) that is caused by human activities. Crock of baloney? Does your word use even make sense?
All data shows that the Earth does indeed go through temperature cycles. None of that data shows such extreme change over such a short period of time. Also, none of that data shows a cycle large enough to account for global warming as a cyclical process. Seeing as the drastic rise in temperature started about the time of the Industrial Revolution, it certainly appears that global warming is caused by humans. But maybe it's really a hoax...
As to your assertion that it is another money grab, the companies that are making big bucks aren't the ones trying to stop global warming, rather they're largely the ones contributing to the cause. Money can be made on sustainable solutions, but currently, it is business as usual for oil, auto, etc.
If you were merely looking for affirmation of your backward beliefs, why pose an assertion as a question? I suggest looking among the ranks of hollow earth theorists and ufo believers for affirmation.

Despite what this large group of moronish apes seem to think, Global Warming IS a serious problem, and it is man made, and it is not just a scam. Since the Industrial Revolution, man has been burning fossil fuels in massive numbers. When fossil fuels (gasoline, mainly) are burned, one of the main emissions are Carbon Dioxide, or CO2. Now, it has been proven that this gas, among other less plentiful gases, heat the earth by absorbing energy from the sun, that would otherwise reflect into space. Contrary to what someone posted earlier, rising temperatures do not increase the intensity of CO2, and Al was right. To see this, you can do a simple experiment. Get 2 jars. Fill one with simple air, and the other with pure Carbon Dioxide. Now, place them in the sun for 30 minutes each, together. After the 30 minutes, measure the temperatures of the air in each jar. The one containing CO2 will be significantly hotter. Studies have shown that Carbon Dioxide levels have doubled since the industrial revolution, and the effects can already be seen world wide. The last 10 hottest years on record in the US have occurred in the last 14 years. Ignoring the problem now will only worsen it later, and action must be taken now.

Global warming is REAL. It is very dangerous as well. If you need to know what it is, then let me tell you.
Global warming is basically the process of too much heat forming under the Earth's atmosphere. When there is too much heat, ice in Antarctica and the Arctic will start melting, and animals that need to stay in cold areas will start dying and be endangered. Then possibly extinct after a few years.
So it's not a croak of Baloney. It's natural, and it's mostly caused by us humans with all the automobiles and gas engines. The gas can be very warm or hot, causing hot air on Earth. This can even affect humans in the future. When the world is extremely hot, then people are going to need an air conditioner on every window on every building or house.
Also, computers produce heat. If you look at the back of one, you'll see the fan blowing out air. It might be warm air, but when all of the warm air leaves the room, it can't escape the Earth's atmosphere.
There are also Greenhouse gases that cause heat in the air. Other gases can include us human beings, because people fart, and farts can cause heated air.
If you need to know more, then go to www.yahoo.com and search for global warming.
Also, I am desperate for a best answer in this category.

Well I think its still out if its a man make cause or if its just a thing of nature. However Most forget or Inconviently forget that back in the 1970's the big thing was Global Cooling. It was going to get so cold not a plant animal or man would live thru the big freeze. But today the minority in many cases end up with the loudest voice which makes it seem they are the Majority. For all we know Global warming could be the Greatest thing to happen to the earth in 100's and thousands of years. We can't even now prevent a thunderstorm, hurricane or tornado from hitting where ever it wants to hit us. And the pc crowd wants me to believe were the total cause of the earths warming.... Mmmm....

You are committing a major fallacy of logic in your questioning. The fact is that global warming is neither a crock of "baloney" nor a natural and normal occurance. Let me ask YOU a question: aside of your political view, what makes you think it is a crock? A majority of scientists believe in it. The evidence is overwhelming. And if it is a real threat, it could spell disaster. So why wouldn't you at least look into it, rather than sitting here whining about whether or not it is true. It is obvious that you haven't put any real thought into it, or else you would likely find that it IS a big deal.
Ah, but look at that. It would almost appear that I committed a fallacy of logic, too, by suggesting that if you looked into it you would HAVE to find that global warming is a real problem. The difference between my fallacy and yours? I'm right.

It is not just "now" there has been attention around it for decades - whether they thought it was global cooling or warming. It is "now" in the media because of certain celebrities finally supporting environmental causes.
Global Warming is a natural occurrence. It is not helped by the pollution created by man. That is what everyone *means* when they talk about GW, but a lot of people aren't grasping that yet. GW has a natural cycle (as illustrated in the Inconvenient Truth) but it is also being exacerbated by the amount of CO2 expelled into the air by burning fossil fuels (among other things). The warming has led to the melting of the ice caps and glaciers. We've see this already. There's hard evidence of it. This could eventually lead to the flooding of much of what is now inhabited land.
Everyone needs to cut back on how much they consume of the Earth's resources, and how much waste they produce. The US has gotten *out of control* with the amount of garbage we produce (not just trash, all types of waste!)
The point most people are missing is that *a lot* of the things you can do to reduce your 'carbon footprint' also SAVES YOU MONEY!!! When you spend less money to fill up your gas tank you take money out of the pockets of the oil industry! When you use energy efficient appliances you spend less money on electricity to power your home. When you use reusable canvas bags at the grocery store instead of 3 or 4 or 5 plastic bags you reduce your waste, and over time fewer bags need to be produced - thus cutting back on the petroleum needed for plastic - thus taking money out of the hands of the oil industry!!!!
Go Green! Save money!

It is a crock supported by phony science. It's natural and we don't need to reduce anything. The media and Al Gore is pushing it because we are quickly heading to a one world government and they have to bring the U.S. standard of living down. While this will happen because there is no real leadership from anyone. We have enough oil in the state or Arkansas to last us for 75 years. Thank you enviromentalist for forcing your agenda down the throat. We could have oil at 10 to 20 cent a gallon but we have to keep the Middle East afloat. That is the truth believe it or not. What do I have to back it up with lots of research and evidence that the large media will not bring out. Believe it or not the media has an agenda yes every one of them even Fox News. It is a money grab and complete B.S.
