The mystery of god IS beyond the general perception of man because the tangible things that we see are only an illustration of the power that created them. To be taken in the spirit would be likened to an out-of-body experience where the spirit of man is no longer confined to the limitations of this 3rd world density that we reside; so to communicate those things that he experienced would seem as foolishness to a natural man because his mind, (which is the liason) between the spiritual and physical realms will not allow him to communicate experience from a higher plane.
In the book of Romans 1st Chap. Paul speaks about the things that are manifest (made known) in you, the things that god has shown you, even invisible things (to the naked eye) that were from the beginning of creation. For example, how the planets revolve around the sun and the solar system revolves around a center also, even as an atom's protons and electrons revolve around its nucleus. As the body of man revolves around his spirit. Even so should the human race revolve ariund its creator.
We have learned so much yet we know so little about ourselves. It seems funny, that man should be able to understand the physical and physiological states of the human body, even to the synapses of the mind; but cannot fathom the simplicity that has been made known to even the least of us.
Keep searching, you'll find what your looking for.

I will try to keep this simple. Example of something beyond words: Try explaining what an orgasm is to someone who has never experienced one. Many things can only be known through direct experience.
We also have the capability of awareness. Again, awareness can be vast or limited and words are insufficient to describe the virtually unlimited capacity we have for being aware.
Perception-What do you see vs what do you perceive?
If we can set the thinking mind aside for a few moments(which is what meditation attempts to do) and allow our awareness to develop, to actually become aware of what is, we will begin to experience our reality. We cannot explain "oneness" but we can experience it. We "are" able to be aware of existence through perception that the limited mind will never understand. These are not abilities beyond human capabilty, but latent qualities that can be developed by anyone willing.
As to Paul's comments regarding baptized and committed believers, Paul understood the admonition "do not cast pearls before swine, for they will trample them in the mud". An enlightened individual understands not to put out truths which are not understandable to the unenlightened.

Because we as humans do not know everything, and sometimes people who are saved think they do...and they go around acting self righteous. BUT that may not be the reason why Paul said this, but that he is making a point that we who are saved still do not know so much and yet God does reveal some mystery to us, when we seek Him with all our heart-- God has revealed a small mystery to me that I am ever so greatful for! And many DO think it is foolish, but it is not- it is the word of God. So you see, we have SO much to learn still- we never stop learning from God....He continues to teach us and reveal the truth to us in bits....when He sees fit. But that is why it is so crucial to lean on God's understanding and not our own, to continually be humbled in His presence....This question makes me think of Jeremiah 33:3 "Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know"
-And He does!
But nobody can fathom the ways of God-- we who love Him trust Him of course....we know He is in control, even if we do not understand everything- someday we will!

Religion divides, unites, conjures up and saves. From Christians to Muslims, This thriller is that by way of the unfold of the gospel, the gentiles are heirs, at the side of Israel, individuals in combination of ONE frame, and all of us proportion in combination within the promise of Christ Jesus. (see Ephesians three:6, NIV) "The Mystery of Faith" includes a God you can not see, and a heaven you can not pattern this aspect of demise!!! For us, a thriller is whatever complicated, tricky, unknown, and even unknowable. If we can not fathom whatever, we are saying, “It’s a thriller to me.” So after we pay attention approximately the ‘thriller of our religion’ in church or see the phrase ‘thriller’ within the New Testament, we instantly believe of Jessica Fletcher, Lieutenant Columbo, Miss Marple, Sherlock Holmes, Perry Mason, or Poirot—and we don’t see the relationship. In that feel, there is not any thriller of our religion in any respect, considering the fact that every body knew all alongside that Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus. There isn't any scene within the New Testament (neither is there a necessity for one) in which all of the apostles are amassed within the drawing room, neither is there a detective to throw up a sequence of situations implicating each and every apostle in flip till Judas breaks down and confesses. That’s now not so mysterious, no less than now not any more! Paul defined that his task as an apostle is to make every body have an understanding of this thriller, which was once stored difficult to understand ago. Christ has died Christ is risen Christ will come once more! This suits, considering the fact that despite the fact that this fact is noticeable to us in these days, it was once NOT so noticeable ago. May your brain soar with pleasure as you realise its utter simplicity; would possibly the thriller of our religion, which was once as soon as difficult to understand, be noticeable and simple to you:

In those terms, there are several 'higher realities' that are (mostly) beyond man's power to put into words. We can speak of it indirectly through metaphor and such, but most know that it must be experienced first-hand to really understand what those words are trying to say. I have experienced those mysteries and I must say Paul was mostly correct. (as far as this statement goes)

there is no higher reality to a human than the existence of his or her own flesh.... christianity seeks to make life into a mystery so that humans would not trust what's before their own eyes.
There is work that mother nature does in the healing of nature that it makes no sense in informing humans for it's beyond their understanding.... how every humans should look with their eyes and believe that is real... don't look for the mystic in life for life is what you experience what you live looking further would only detract from what you were given.
If you claim to know god you'd better be right or mother nature will personally curse you to death if necessary. nothing practicing religion knows her or even come close to knowing her.

First of all Paul never even met Jesus and is a self proclaimed prophet (he's bogus) The original Christian Essenes reject his teachings. King Constantin is the one who added him to the bible and he deleted a lot too. For the original teachings of Jesus before Constantine changed it. Google gospelofthenazirenes.com For sincere seekers of Truth. And God is not indescribable He is described in great detail in the Bhagavad Gita as it is By BHaktivedanta PRabhupada- go to harekrishnatemple.com Tells all.

I can't speak for Paul but I've always said we severely lack the imagination to even begin to try to explain the mysteries. The explanations we have come up with are so lame they're laughably absurd.

"What could the higher reality of man possibly be that it would be "...beyond a man's power to describe in words"?"
Words require duality - something which is and which is not...otherwise the word is meaningless.
Higher reality is non-dual - there is no other. So it is beyond man's power to describe in words.

The higher reality of man when he ended up being a god himself. And the foolishness part, when there's no you and we but only I.
